About Edinburgh Bahá’Í Centre

The Edinburgh Bahá’í Centre is home of the Scottish Bahá’í Community

Edinburgh Bahá’Í Centre Description

The Edinburgh Baha'i Centre is a large Georgian building situated in the New Town which is part of Edinburgh's historic world heritage site.

The Bahá’í community began searching for a new venue of ambassadorial standards in 2003, for receiving distinguished visitors, and to provide a venue for engaging with Scottish society on the question of bettering community life in Scotland.

Fundraising events were held in Bahá’í communities across the United Kingdom. In the Bahá’í Faith, only members of the community can make financial contributions. The first donation was for £35 and it came from a group of Bahá’í children who created handmade bookmarks and sold them for the Edinburgh Centre.

A suitable building was found and acquired in May 2005. The four-storey building is equipped with multi-functional reception and meeting rooms. Many plans are being made for the Centre, including serving the wider community by providing an environment where discourse about the betterment of Scotland can take place.
