On International Rock Day we just had to share an image of these brave souls! Introducing the Castle Rock Squad who regularly organise checks and maintenance of the castle rock. Not sure we are brave enough for this!

Tonight we will be lit blue to celebrate 70 years of the NHS in Scotland. Did you know the castle has its own medical history? Before the NHS was founded in 1948, the castle already had a strong medical history as a military hospital during the First and Second World Wars. During WWI, the castle converted an artillery storeroom into a 70 bed hospital ward. The small space had all the amenities of a war hospital, including an operating theatre.
