About Edinburgh Global Partnerships (Egp)

EGP facilitates volunteering opportunities to support community-led development projects overseas. We also volunteer in Edinburgh to support our local community www. egpscotland.org

Edinburgh Global Partnerships (Egp) Description

Since 1990, Edinburgh Global Partnerships has recruited passionate and committed volunteers from the city of Edinburgh to work in partnership with local community led initiatives in Africa, Asia and South American. EGP prides it self on supporting community-led initiatives as opposed to creating or directing our own projects. EGP solely selects projects that have been put forward by the local community based on their own specific needs.

Our volunteers fundraise throughout the academic year for the total cost of the project and then spend the summer living and working with the local community to help construct the project.

EGP prepares its volunteers throughout the year with a series of training sessions, covering finances, medical and first-aid to HIV /AIDS awareness.

EGP volunteers also take part in "Edinburgh Links" projects. Working in partnership with Edinburgh based groups, volunteers have the opportunity to get involved in projects from Conservation work to Elderly support and care initiatives. Edinburgh Links is an important aspect of EGP, stressing the need to foster links with the community at home as well as overseas.
