Testy na prawdziwość miodu

1. Test ściekania. Nabierz miód na łyżeczkę i jednostajnym strumieniem lej go na talerzyk. Jeśli ścieka równomiernie, nie rwąc się i tworząc na talerzyku stożek, to jest to miód naturalny. Konsystencja sztucznego miodu będzie jednolita, bez żadnych grudek a miód rozleje się po talerzu.

2. Test rozpuszczania. Do szklanki zimnej wody wlej łyżeczkę miodu. Jeśli będzie rozpuszczać się nierównomiernie tworząc smugi w wodzie, to masz pewność, że miód jest dobrej jakości. Miody sztuczne rozpuszczają się równomiernie i szybko.

3. Test wagi. W litrowym słoiku nie powinno być mniej niż 1,4 kg miodu.

4. Krystalizcja. Dobrze przechowywany miód może stać nawet rok, ale już kilka miesięcy po zbiorze powinien się skrystalizować. Jest to naturalny proces, który zawsze zachodzi w prawdziwym miodzie. Krystalizacja nie zmienia jego właściwości odżywczych, ani działania leczniczego. Czas potrzebny do zbrylenia zależy od rodzaju miodu. Najdłużej w stanie płynnym pozostaje miód z białej akacji, inne powinny skrystalizować się do końca roku, w którym zostały zebrane. Sztuczne miody nie krystalizują się - jest to jedna z metod na sprawdzenie jakości produktu.

Miód niedojrzały. Jak określić dojrzałość miodu?

Pszczoły składają kropelki miodu w komórkach plastra, a potem zaczynają go zagęszczać przez przenoszenie kropelek między komórkami. Miód o większej zawartości wody niż 20% nie jest jeszcze dojrzały (wyjątkiem jest miód z koniczyny, wrzosowy i akacjowy). W komórkach plastra, w ulu odbywa się proces dojrzewania – odparowywania wody i rozkład cukrów złożonych na cukry proste. Po 4-5 dniach pszczoły zaklejają komórki woskiem, zabezpieczając gotowy miód przed zepsuciem. Jeśli pszczelarz chce przyspieszyć proces i zbierze miód za wcześnie, z niezaklejonych jeszcze plastrów, to sprzedawany przez niego produkt nie będzie odpowiednio dojrzały. Dojrzałość miodu określa się po jego gęstości. Przy temperaturze 20 stopni C powinien leniwie spływać, tworząc stożek. Przy energicznym kręceniu łyżką wokół własnej osi miód nie powinien z niej spłynąć.

I bought the Coriander which i wasnt expecting to have such a delicate taste, plus the Linden and multiflower honeys by mail order, having bought a jar of multiflower at the Newcastle Christmas Market.
