Following our AGM we'll be doing our last screening of the year and it's a very exciting one that we definitely cannot tell you about but you should definitely come to this totally not spider and man related animated event...
H5 at 6pm for our AGM which we need you to come to to determine the future of this society (committee positions are still very much open to run for) and then we'll get into this, our final - totally not spiderman - screening at 6.30. Come join!

From visionary writer, director, producer, editor, production designer, set decorator, sound editor, caterer, makeuperer NEIL BREEN comes this semester's Film Society Best of the Worst special, it's Fateful Findings! Wait what do you mean you've never heard of Neil Breen...
A computer scientist/novelist/Breenist reunites with his childhood friend and hacks into government databases, while facing the dire and FATEFUL consequences of his mystical actions obtained as a child.
Yes we're back again with a terrible film pick where things are a little different to our usual screenings. Come along, drink to survive the film, jeer at the screen, chuck a few laptops about if you like - whatever you want. We'll be in H5 from 6pm as always and screening will begin at 6.30.

It’s Paddington 2 in H5 at 6.30 tonight! Come along early and find out details about our upcoming AGM on April 4th as well!

Since watching the first Paddington earlier this year there's only been one thing we've wanted to do since falling in love with that delightful little bear...
SO here it is, we've got Paddington 2!
We return to the Brown family as Paddington has now settled into London life and is a popular icon in the local community. All this polite rain-coated wearing bear wants to do is get a gift for his Aunt Lucy's 100th birthday, but somehow all goes awry and Paddington finds himself m...istakenly framed for theft.
We'll be in H5 from 6PM as always for tea/coffee and a chat. Screening begins at 6.30.

Reminder that we are back TONIGHT with Hereditary at 6.30 in H5!
🛑🛑We would like to stress that we recognise this film is particularly distressing at parts so if you are unsure please look up content notes before attending.
In saying that it’s still a great film so we’d love to see you there!

Thing's are getting weird and intensely uncomfortable this week at Film Society as we step into Ari Aster's horrifying family drama, Hereditary!
With an exceptional performance from Toni Collete, Hereditary follows a family grieving the recent death of their grandmother. As dark secrets begin to unravel, the family is continually haunted by tragic and disturbing occurrences. This one isn't for the faint of heart.
We'll be in H5 from 6pm as always for tea/coffee and a chat. Screening begins at 6.30. We hope to see you there!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Film Society WILL NOT be running this week unfortunately. See you NEXT WEEK instead however!

To close out the last of February we're turning to a classic of comedy, it's Ferris Bueller's Day Off!
John Hughes's fourth wall breaking titular character decides quite simply that he wants a day off school and drags his friends through a number of hi-jinks and turns as their principle teacher tries his best to catch them out.
We'll be in H5 from 6pm as always for tea/coffee and a chat before the screening begins at 6.30. Don't miss it!

The final goodbye from the Mars Rover this past week captured everyone's heart, so we thought we might celebrate by following the story of another little delightful robot this week - it's WALL-E!
As humanity jets off out away from an environmental ruined Earth, a team of robotic trash compactors are left behind to clean up the mess left behind. Now only one remains continuing to be dedicated to his job and routine, until one day that is broken up by the sudden arrival of EVE.
We'll be in H5 from 6pm as usual for tea/coffee and a chat of all things in recent film. Screening begins at 6.30.

Be sure to join us TOMORROW NIGHT for a very special screening of God’s Own Country as we celebrate LGBT+ History Month along with Edinburgh Napier University LGBT+ Society, and continue the celebrations afterwards together at The Cuckoo's Nest!

User

We had such a great time screening Moonlight with Edinburgh Napier University LGBT+ Society last semester that we're delighted to be collaborating with them again as they help us lead a screening on God's Own Country!
Francis Lee makes his feature directorial debut as a young farmer Johnny Saxby numbs his daily frustrations with binge drinking and casual sex, until the arrival of a Romanian migrant worker for lambing season ignites an intense relationship that sets Johnny on a new path.
Both film and LGBT will be in H5 from 6pm for our usual free tea and coffee and a chat so come along before the screening begins at 6.30! We'll almost definitely being going out to a pub afterwards and booking a table so please try to let us know if you're planning on coming and want to join after as well.

We're getting down to the weird and bizarre at Film Society this week as we step into the mutated landscapes of Annihilation!
Following the sudden reappearance of her believed to be missing husband, former soldier and Biologist Lena (Natalie Portman) sets out on a bizarre expedition into 'The Shimmer' to trace the steps of her husbands mission and find out what is going on in this nature defying land.
We'll be in H5 from 6pm as usual with free tea and coffee so feel free to join. Screening begins at 6.30!

Join us TONIGHT at 6.30 in H5 for some Birdman fun!

User

Following our excellent social last week we're back now to the regular screenings for the end of January as we return with the multiple Academy Award's winning Birdman!
Michael Keaton possibly delves a little into his own careered past as Batman, as he brilliantly comes to the role of Riggan Thomson - a faded Hollywood actor best known for playing the superhero "Birdman", as he struggles to mount a Broadway adaptation of a short story by Raymond Carver.
We're in H5 once again from 6PM with free tea and coffee on offer for all welcome to come have a brief chat with us if you wish before our screening begins at 6.30.

User

It’s almost time! We’ll be downstairs from 8 ready for ya (and grab yourself one of these for £2 for half price cocktails from Revolution Edinburgh til August 😉)

User

Join us tonight at 8 for something a bit different as we relax with a few (or more😉) drinks at vodka revolution!
