The conference’s theme ‘Innovation in the Law: New Challenges, New Perspectives’ aims to provide an environment for dynamic research exchange that draws upon a wide variety of legal disciplines. We welcome submissions from all areas of law, and relevant interdisciplinary research, including (but not limited to) commercial law, constitutional law, criminal law, human rights, intellectual property law, media law, international law, legal theory, and medical law. Possible topics include:
• Legal approaches to emerging neurotechnologies
• Innovations in financial regulation, post-financial crisis
• Inadequacy of traditional responses to global crime
• Implications of the 2015 introduction of the unitary patent system in Europe
• The use of consent in social media
• New perspectives on constitutional law
• Developments in legal theory

Please submit an abstract of no more than 300 words and 3-5 keywords to EdLawPGConference@ed. ac. uk, together with a short biographical note (approximately 100 words). The deadline for submitting abstracts is 15 April 2014.
Selected participants will be notified by early June 2014. Instead of submitting a paper in advance, selected participants will be required to write a 900 word blog on their forthcoming presentation for the Conference website: http://www. lawphdconference. ed. ac. uk /.
