Special thanks to the driver on the 13.15 tram from Princes St to the airport. Thanks for not departing before my friends had time to validate their passes.

My daughter & I would to say a huge thank you to Keith the ticket conductor who made my daughters first trip on the trams such a fun experience. My daughter was chuffed when he printed a ticket for her little friend Pascal & took his request very seriously that ā€œthereā€™s no chameleonā€™s allowed on board but if he sits still on your lap & behaves himself I wonā€™t tell anybodyā€ Pascal didnā€™t move from her lap the rest of the journey ļæ½ Itā€™s little gestures like this that parents appreciate it was such a simple gesture but made my daughters day, thank you! ļæ½

User

Much better than šŸšŒ buses.

Conductor who asked about the number plate on my son's wheelchair was lovely!

He even gave card cut out trams to the young children on the other side of the walkšŸš¶way!

User

I often use tram and cannot say anything bad about the ticket machines or the staff. Especially I would like to mention one of the staff members on board of the tram, who's name is Ferdi. After having a confusion with my airport return ticket she was very understanding and helpfull. Excellent example of great customer service!

User

From arriving at Edinburgh Airport yesterday morning and getting help at the ticket machine for the Tram journey into Edinburgh, to our journey on Tram 954 and the excellent and friendly service from Richard, the ticket examiner, to our return to the Airport this morning at about 5.30am from York Place, where again we received excellent and friendly service from Luzo, the ticket examiner from Italy. We were also greeted by the Tram driver this morning as he got into his cockpit. What a pleasure to be surrounded by excellent and friendly people on our Tram experience. Well done. 10 / 10 for you guys. Thank you.

User

As a regular commuter I can advocate this great service. Not everyone is perfect and invariably some conductors and drivers can have a bad day - thankfully they are few and far between. The majority go out of their way to help, provide advice and support to those in need. As a resident in Leith I very much look forward to the completion of the mainline to Newhaven and indeed the extension out to Little France... in time.

User

As visitors my wife and I just wanted to ride the tram out of the city. Excellent advice on best value ticket. Impressed with the frequency of trams and clear signage. Trams were clean and tidy, too few seats (had to stand even at midday) but as a commuter myself I can understand why you get more standing passengers on. Overall an impressive service. Used the buses too...very clean

User

I would love to say how great the Trams are in Edinburgh, unfortunately as a mobility scooter user and not being allowed on a tram, I canā€™t.

Only scooters up to 1000mm are allowed, my scooter is 1016mm so am bumped.

Here is the good bit, only around 30 scooter models are under 1000mm. They are the small lightweight models more appropriate for the patio.

So really around 70% of mobility scooters are not allowed on the trams.

Along with this, you need a permit.

The policy is discriminatory and is designed to be so.

Of course good old health and safety is sited as the reason however the real reason is they do not want scooters on the trams.

Well the Equality Act I believe says something else.

Must not, do not, will not ā€˜Discriminateā€ helps concentrate minds!

So Edinburgh Trams, I will not give up until I get one of your discriminatory permits, the ones designed to keep disabled people using mobility scooters off the trams.

Should you be wondering, yes I am extremely annoyed, disappointed and feel degraded that I even have to be put into a process just to use public transport for some!

User

I used to think the tram was a great...that was when it was used for popping into Edinburgh for leisure purposes. However now I use it as commuting there has been so many occasions where I've had to keep driving past Ingleston and head to park and ride station at Hermiston Gait and get the bus. There are so many things that could be better on this service. The machines for starters. Don't take paper money, don't give change (what is done with the extra money?) They are ridiculously slow and during busy periods (spring right through to Autumn) in the mornings the commuters are standing about waiting in queues behind tourists who are trying to figure out how to use them! This station should be manned at busy periods to allow a steady flow of ticket buying instead of folk missing trams. In the mornings I've lost count of the amount of times the tram stops at Haymarket and then doesn't move for quite some time. Quicker getting off and walking to West End Princes St if that's your next stop. Then there's the commute home. Lucky to get on a tram let alone get a seat! Additional trams during the festival? well I was at the tram stop in Princes St at 5pm and was still standing there 40 mins later. Trams were too full and I couldn't get on - twice! It's an expensive service which has been up and running long enough to sort these issues out. Only giving it 2 stars because on the rare occasions that I can actually get on a tram and when it takes me to work on time, for these occasions I am grateful.

User

Terrible, terrible experience. I waited 30 mins in a queue at 1am outside the airport, Airlink 100 service unable to cope with amount of people trying to get to city centre. What is the point to have the bloody trams and not being able to use them? A night service maybe?

User

Rip off just to come to airport! Take bins off trams as pointless! Ticket checked on tram so put in bin when getting off only to be forced back on to rake bin to show ticket again or pay another rip off Ā£6! Ticket system shocking aswell!

User

Public transport in Scotland at its best. First time using the tram, park and ride at Islington to pick up wife from the airport. Ticket machine on this side is not accepting card or note payment, and silly me does not have the (extortionate for one stop) Ā£8.50 in coins. So have to cross over to the other side where there is a huge queue. Just caught the third tram to arrive. Why canā€™t Scotland get any public service right these days?

User

Just been to watch a film at Vue in the Omni Centre, whilst I validated my pass my girlfriend got on the tram... the faceless driver on his own vocation (or by being instructed by the total prick of a tramline controller) set the tram on its way towards the airport.

There are too many mindless individuals working in the public sector and/or service companies. Give others a chance and resign.

User

In the winter no heating, and in the summer no air conditioning at all , only a few small windows. All the money spent on trams and no one thought to go that bit extra for heating/air con.

User

First and last time I'll get the tram today. You should make it publicly known that you have to pay cash under Ā£3 or be exploited for using a card to pay. Must have taken a page out of First Bus book on how to gouge the public to line the pockets of an elite few!

Frankly appalling given the subsidies received and disruption caused to the public. Not that I anticipate that Edinburgh Trams cares about anything but the bottom line.

User

Each time I purchase a return ticket I get it checked after the stop I get on . Two stops in and itā€™s a different ticket officer . Staring and not getting to grips of who is on or off . Useless staff are running up and down looking and staring even though you have a ticket . I never feel comfortable. You need a better process for checking tickets or donā€™t change the staff after 1 stop ???

User

As a regular tram user I find the customer experience of Edinburgh Trams very poor mainly due to their ticketing system. Passengers canā€™t easily buy tickets. The ticket machines at stations donā€™t give change and donā€™t accept notes, so you need to have an exact fair meaning customers either have to pay too much or canā€™t buy a ticket. And if you want to pay by a card, thereā€™s a minimum spend which is higher than the single ticket. Customer outcome: you pay more or canā€™t buy a ticket.

If youā€™re traveling with a monthly ticket you need to validate it before entering the tram. Sometimes itā€™s not possible especially when one has to run to catch a tram. It takes 5 seconds to validate, but I have and would have missed the tram because if this. If you donā€™t validate your card, the ticket inspector usually forces you to do it at next stop. Customer outcome: you lose your seat or miss the tram you just entered, or wait for next tram for 7minutes.

Solution to these issues are that there would be ticket validation points in the trams, and the machines would give change/allow smaller card transactions.

So why this is not possible already?

Obviously, these are only a few points. Others are: the trams are terribly slow. The stops donā€™t serve Edinburgh residents, itā€™s a transportation form for tourists and office workers who work outside the city centre.

I personally use bus whenever I can, even when going to the airport because itā€™s easier, quicker and cheaper. Canā€™t recommend the tram.

User

Absolutely shocking to charge a flat Ā£6 single rate from the airport regardless where you want to go when one stop further at Ingilston Park and Ride you pay Ā£3.20 for a return!!! Blatant and ridiculous money grabbing thievery. Edinburgh trams you should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves!

User

Absolutely shocking the health and safety tonight. I have felt vulnerable and unsafe at the potential crush hazards. You need to sort out your health and safety following concerts at Murrayfield

User

My daughter was chuffed when he printed a ticket for her little friend Pascal & took his request very seriously that ā€œthereā€™s no chameleonā€™s allowed on board but if he sits still on your lap & behaves himself I wonā€™t tell anybodyā€ Pascal didnā€™t move from her lap the rest of the journey ļæ½ Itā€™s little gestures like this that parents appreciate it was such a simple gesture but made my daughters day, thank you! ļæ½

Much better than šŸšŒ buses.

Conductor who asked about the number plate on my son's wheelchair was lovely!

He even gave card cut out trams to the young children on the other side of the walkšŸš¶way!

I often use tram and cannot say anything bad about the ticket machines or the staff. Especially I would like to mention one of the staff members on board of the tram, who's name is Ferdi. After having a confusion with my airport return ticket she was very understanding and helpfull. Excellent example of great customer service!

Thank you.

User

Special thanks to the driver on the 13.15 tram from Princes St to the airport. Thanks for not departing before my friends had time to validate their passes.
