This is the official page for the Edinburgh University Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot team.

Edinburgh University Vis Moot Team Description

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is the world's largest commercial moot court with focus on international commercial law and arbitration. Each year, a fictional problem is released and teams around the world work to produce two written memoranda, one for Claimant and one for Respondent. They then compete in the oral rounds in March /April in Vienna. In particular the problem always includes issues regarding the interpretation of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).

Edinburgh University has competed in the Vis Moot since 2010 and from September 2013 to 2015 membership of the Edinburgh team was recognised as a year long masters course.

From 2016 onwards participation in the Vis Moot reverted to being a voluntary extra-cirricular activity but one offered exclusively to the LLM students at the School of Law.

This page will also feature information about the Edinburgh Pre-Moot and we encourage as many teams as possible to take part in it!
