Next Saturday falls during Easter weekend so for this one we are collaborating with our friends at Jack's Road Junior parkrun. We are hoping that lots of you will join in the fun by making a selfie frame or board featuring an Easter theme for Eglinton parkrun and/or Jack's Road Junior parkrun. Next Saturday morning we will put up a post and want to see you all posing with your creations! The kids will be ace at this one, so make sure you rope them in to help you out. Best one wins an Easter egg! 🐰🐣(which I'll keep and give to you when parkrun starts up again!) Can't wait to see what you come up with! Hazel x

Saturday 21st March - COVID19 does not stop it being a parkrun day!
Clearly we are aware that everyone is in different situations so no matter if your working, social distancing, in self isolation we want to include everyone because that what parkrun does best.
So if you have a parkrun tshirt milestone or apricot get it ready. Don’t have a parkrun tshirt that’s ok - get your favourite running top, or if you have a blank tshirt why not draw your own! ... Now some may just wish to do fancy dress! But if you can’t just as long as we see you that’s all that matters!
Between 9.30 & 10.30 Saturday 21st March we want you to strike a parkrun pose with a piece of paper in front of you with #parkrun and a message for fellow parkrunners that will make them smile.
You maybe at work (I’m sure the boss will allow a sneaky bit of fun!) you maybe social distancing or in self isolation it really does not matter strike a pose with a cuppa tea, hugging a tree so long as your obeying the rules.
We will create a post for you to add photos too, tomorrow at 9.30am.

Funniest/ most unusual pic wins a packet of pasta :)

Morning All Unfortunately the news we all expected has arrived.
From parkrun HQ... “All parkrun events in the United Kingdom have been suspended with immediate effect due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation. At this stage we have cancelled events up to the end of March. Please follow our communications channels for ongoing updates. parkrun’s global position is published and will be updated here.”
... On a personal note can I encourage everyone to stay active and keep in contact with one another whether its on another page like Ayrshire runners or on a new page. Take care Eglinton core team

Good evening!
Another dull, rainy morning down at Eglinton parkrun today, however as always, brightened up by all of our runners and volunteers :-)
Well done to all 124 runners, 17 of whom achieved a PB. There were 13 first timers at Eglinton and 5 of those were absolute newbies doing their first ever parkrun!
... We had visitors from London too :-)
Thank you to our fantastic team of volunteers who kept everything running smoothly. You guys are awesome!
Thank you to everyone who followed our guidance with regards to COVID-19.
As stated this morning, as far as we are aware Eglinton parkrun will be on next week, which will be an Irvine Running Club takeover :-)
However, please keep an eye on social media and your email inbox for any updates which may appear.
As always it was a pleasure being your Run Director. Enjoy your Saturday night and the test of your weekend.
Laura :-)

Evening folks
parkrun will go ahead tomorrow though I think it goes without saying if you have any fever or flu like symptoms please stay at home. We will put in place some precautions around token handling When coming through the funnel put a flat hand out to receive token ... When being scanned please hold your barcode and token for the scanners then drop token in the box. Young James will be in his usual spot but will unfortunately not be giving out his normal hi 5s 🤚 Going forward we don't know any more than yourselves though while the 500 limit wouldn't directly affect us it would affect others and cause mass tourism which could make things worse elsewhere. so all we can say is watch this space #DFYB Ian

Hope all of our 113 runners and walkers have dried out and warmed up after this morning's slightly windy parkrun!
Well done to 15 first timers, and to the 13 folk who scored a new PB 🌟
Great to see some of you wearing purple to support International Women's Day too 👍
... Hopefully our pacers guided some of you on to improving your finish times? Thanks to Scott, Jennifer, Tommy, Xander and Fiona for being our pacers.
Lastly, a big hand to all our volunteers today, you are the people who make parkrun happen 👏 Thank you!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend 😊
Cheers, Claire R.

That's our volunteer roster full, and a wee reminder email sent to those good folk helping out tomorrow. Thank you peeps!
As tomorrow is the first Saturday of the month, we usually offer pacing to help those who want to improve their times.
So let me know if you want to pace or there's a pacing time that would be good for you, to see if we can match you up 😊
... Don't forget your barcode! And look out something purple if you would like to show your support for International Women's day 👍
Cheers, Claire R.

Ding ding!! Still room for TWO volunteers to marshal this Saturday - if you can help out, or can persuade another lovely person to volunteer, please give me a shout..!
Plus...Saturday 7th March is International Women's Day (IWD). parkrun are encouraging parkrunners to show their support by: * wearing PURPLE :-) * persuading your mum/favourite auntie/big or wee sis/girlfriend/BFF to come along along and join in parkrun, or support your run by cheering you on...
... If you already run at parkrun, then you know that it's a great way to get active and get involved. Yet typically less women than men take part and keep coming back. Let's see if IWD can help change that!
Cheers,
Claire R.

As this Saturday is 29 February and in keeping with the tradition of some things being reversed on this day...course conditions permitting we plan to run our normal route in reverse. So we will go over hill and straight over the laundry bridge and im sure you can work out the rest Only other rule is any wedding proposals must be done in the funnel for us all to see :)
