Six holiday cottages and a luxury log cabin in a beautiful location with stunning views over Melrose and the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders.

Eildon Melrose - Holiday Cottages & Log Cabins Description

The award-winning Eildon Melrose - Holiday Cottages & Log Cabins are self catering holiday properties situated in the beautiful Scottish Borders, including six holiday cottages formed from the conversion of Georgian stone farm buildings dating from 1830, originally part of the Duke of Buccleuch's estate. The log cabin is a haven of luxury, the traditional construction is a work of art from which you might never want to leave. It has a private hot tub with stunning views over the Eildon Hills. The properties lie 600 feet up on the side of the famous Border landmark, the Eildon Hills, with magnificent views over the Tweed valley to the Lammermuir and Moorfoot Hills beyond. Although quite privately situated at the end of a private road, with no through traffic, the properties are only half a mile from Melrose, with its excellent shops and restaurants, and world-famous Abbey.

We are ideally placed for touring the beautiful Scottish Borders countryside on traffic-free roads. Tweedbank railway station, two miles away, gives direct rail access in to the centre of Edinburgh in just under an hour. From Melrose, buses also run to Edinburgh and Newcastle, as well as to all local Scottish Borders towns and to the rail stations of Berwick and Carlisle. Edinburgh and the coasts of Northumberland and Berwickshire are all within an easy one-hour drive.

Excellent sporting facilities of all kinds abound in the Scottish Borders. Hill walking and golf are available from the door of the cottages, and the beautiful Tweed river, which runs through Melrose, offers trout and salmon fishing. Melrose Golf Course is a 9 hole course at the bottom of our private road on the approach to the property. From the cottages, there is a footpath down to Melrose which is part of the 100-kilometer St Cuthbert's Way that starts in Melrose and ends at Lindisfarne.

There is much in the area to interest historians, architects and gardeners. The Scottish Borders has many fascinating places of interest, from Floors Castle, the home of the Duke of Roxburgh, to Abbotsford, the former home of the novelist Sir Walter Scott, which is less than 4 miles away.

Five of our cottages are classified Category 1 by the Holiday Care Service for wheelchair access, with ceiling hoists in two of the cottages. All of our properties are dog friendly and all are available for week bookings all year round and short breaks and weekend breaks outside of the peak summer weeks, Xmas and New Year (Hogmanay).
