Emil Dale'S School Of Performing Arts Cambridge Description

Emil Dale’s School of Performing Arts in Hitchin, Hertfordshire & Cambridge, Cambridgeshire is a professional part-time independent school in the area, offering comprehensive training, which concentrates on many different disciplines: singing technique, acting for screen, song & dance, contemporary, commercial dance, jazz, choral singing, voice, articulation, contemporary, audition technique & many more.

All our teachers have been trained professionally at top drama /musical theatre schools in London and are currently working in the business.
EDSA train for 3. 5 hours a week, not the usual 3 hours. This allows our members to take 5 disciplines a week with 5 different teachers, which is unique to EDSA Hitchin /Cambridge. EDSA do not train in classrooms or school halls and have the best facilities in the area. Members train in 5 professional studios with mirrors, sprung floors & even air conditioning. EDSA are proud to have 10 teams of age groups /abilities, which means we deliver the most age appropriate classes in the county. Other schools split similar age ranges across only 3 groups.
EDSA employ a professional company /welfare manager to look after members and their families. EDSA also have a full-time office in Letchworth, where they run their own talent agency. EDSA are driven by passion, not profit, and are big enough to count, while being small enough to care.

Come join our family and see for yourself. Apply now for a FREE TASTER SESSION
There are no other performing arts schools in this area which offer our format.
We provide the best guest teachers from London's West End and Uk number one tours without having to leave Hertfordshire.

We accept young people from 6-21 years old, from beginners to advanced.
Our next weekend school audition is this Sunday. The Hitchin weekend school meets on Sundays from 10: 00am-1: 30pm and 2: 00pm-5: 30pm weekly, at North Hertfordshire College, Centre for the Arts in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The Cambridge school meets on Saturdays 12: 30pm-4: 00pm at North Cambridge Academy, Arbury Road, Cambridge CB4 2JF.

We aim to inspire young people, learn from the professionals of today and become one of the professionals of tomorrow.

Get Involved, Be Inspired! . . .

Advice to someone auditioning: I would say just be yourself and try your hardest, give it your all and make sure you know all your material thoroughly but mainly have fun!! The team want to see you so enjoy yourself.
Why Emil Dale? Emil Dale Academy just felt right for me. When I came to the open day I just fell entirely in love with the place and the ethos of the school, I believed that it would push me to the best of my abilities and I was right.
What’s the hardest thing about EDA? The long days are hard, but you get used to them and you realise that it is the best for you and your training. The longer the day, the more information you are absorbing. The more we are pushing ourselves, the more we are learning and I think that is very important.
What’s the best thing about EDA? Everyone is so supportive of each other and no one is left to feel uncomfortable or judged. The teachers are supportive and I know I am always in safe hands. I have already improved so much thanks to every single one of them believing in me.

... 1. My advice to anyone auditioning is to BE POSITIVE! Believe in yourself, everyone is here to support you. Smile and perform your best even though you may be panicking inside, they are looking for potential! Also have fun and relax, enjoy the routine and make it your own. Add your personality into the dance if you are able to! Relax before singing and don't panic over singing in-front of people, just focus on yourself and doing the best you can do. Be yourself and give it your all.
2. I chose to train at the Emil Dale Academy as they have equal training in all aspects of Musical Theatre preparing you for a career as a strong triple threat. I have only been dancing since the age of 13 and I felt like the Emil Dale Academy would push me and help me progress from strength to strength and that is exactly what they have done! The teachers are so kind and it really helps having industry professionals teaching us as we gain so much more knowledge and advice as they have been in our position before! The atmosphere is also so lovely and we are all one large family.
3. I feel the hardest thing about training at EDA is the long school hours. Although i'm in my element all day everyday, training from 8.30-6 everyday is sometimes very difficult as we don't have much time in the evenings and staying many more hours than we are used to. If you have the right food and drink to give you energy you are okay. We have study time sessions a few times a week which gives us time to do logs etc which also helps. It is also difficult traveling and students have to wake up even earlier and get to school early and get home very late.
4. My favourite thing about EDA are the ensemble singing lessons. When we are all together as a year group/ dance set, the sounds we create as a company/ ensemble are absolutely breathtaking and you get to sing a range of ensemble songs from all types/genres of musicals. It has also helped me discover many new musicals with brilliant scores and lyrics.

On Boxing Day my true love gave to me Olivia Hallett on our 2 Year Sixth Form course.
... My advice for anyone auditioning at the Emil Dale Academy is to be yourself, you are an individual and therefore shouldn’t compare yourself to others, everyone has different strengths and weaknesses and the panel are looking for potential and nice people, be nice and it’ll take you most of the way!
My reason for training at Emil Dale was the immediate sense of family as soon as you walk in the building. EDA pride themselves on an open door policy, meaning you can speak to anyone at anytime about absolutely anything! Teachers treat you like professionals but still understand how difficult the training process can be and work so hard to make sure you’re pushed to your limits in a safe and healthy way!
The hardest thing about training at the Emil Dale Academy is the emotional and physical toll it has on you. The world of musical theatre isn’t easy and working early morning to evening, 5 times a week isn’t easy, but like with anything you do, the payoff of working to your absolute best is such an incredible feeling!
My favourite thing about the Emil Dale Academy is you are encouraged to be you, everyone in our year group is different, we all look different, sound different and bring a variety of strengths to different classes. It is amazing because not only are you learning from industry professionals but you are learning from your peers every single day. My best friends at EDA and my whole year in general are some of the most talented people and I am really grateful to be able to train alongside them!

... 1) Be yourself. You might be exactly who EDA are looking for. It is also really important to be nice and approachable!
2) The second I walked into EDA I knew I wanted to train here. The atmosphere is fun, inviting and everyone here does their utmost to make you feel comfortable and content. The training here is equally balanced across all three disciplines and because of the small class sizes we get thorough individual feedback regularly.
3) The hardest thing about training at the Emil Dale Academy is cardio every morning.
4) My favourite thing about EDA is the supportive atmosphere and all the amazing teachers we have in everyday.

On the 24th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me.... Toby Turpin!!
... Name: Toby Turpin
Course: 2 Year Sixth Form Course!
What advice would you give to people auditioning for the Emil Dale Academy? Just be yourself and try your hardest to do everything at the best you can; you don’t want to walk away from the audition thinking “I could’ve done that” (and tape you’re sheet music😜).
What was your reason for training at the Emil Dale Academy? I wanted to train at EDA because there isn’t anywhere like it; the teachers are the best of the best, the students are friendly and there is a real family feel to the place.
What is the hardest thing about training at the Emil Dale Academy? The hardest thing for me is actually remembering I am on a BTEC course! You are treated like a degree student, you are given the same training that a degree student is given and the performance opportunities are the same!
What is your favourite thing about the Emil Dale Academy? My favourite thing about EDA is that there isn’t a specific focus on any particular discipline, your time is spent evenly doing acting, singing and dancing whereas most drama schools spend their time training you in either one or two of the three disciplines.

On the 23rd day of Christmas my true love gave to me Jonah Sercombe
Want in? www.emildale.co.uk/EDA ... admissions@emildale.co.uk
Audition Advice: I would advise people auditioning that when they go into the audition, don’t be anyone else but yourself, don’t fake it. Also, be genuine and nice, they like nice people no matter how talented you are.
Why Emil Dale: My reason for training at Emil Dale is that I get the intensity I need in order to be the best possible triple threat performer I could be. Also, the amount of professional masterclasses offered allows me to gain experience and knowledge from people already in the industry.
What’s the hardest thing about Emil Dale Academy? The hardest thing about training at Emil Dale is the intense 30 minute cardio first thing in the morning, although it gets you ready for the day. It is very intense, you have to be ready to push yourself not just physically but mentally as well.
What is your Favourite thing about Emil Dale? My favourite thing about the Emil Dale academy is the fact that the teachers get to know the students on a personal level making it much more fun and easier to work with whilst also keeping that professional barrier between them.

Want in? www.emildale.co.uk/EDA ... admissions@emildale.co.uk

Audition Advice: The advice I would give for someone auditioning is to be yourself. There is only one you and that makes you unique. There is no point lying or trying to be someone else as the school might be looking for someone just like you.
Why Emil Dale Academy? The reason I trained at EDA is because the training is exactly what you need to get into this industry. EDA teaches all 3 disciplines equally and excellently. The teaching staff are the best staff ever as they have all been in the industry so they know exactly how to train you and what to help you with. The advice they give you is genuine and you know it’s going to help.
What is the hardest thing about training at the Emil Dale Academy? The hardest thing about training at EDA is saying goodbye to everyone whenever you break up for a holiday or when your time at EDA ends as it’s like a family, we just have so much fun together.
What is your favourite thing about the Emil Dale Academy? My favourite thing about EDA is the people, we are a family. The staff care for you above and beyond what they get paid to. EDA has helped me grow as a person as well as a performer and has helped me open my eyes and made me truly grateful for what I have and who I have in my life.

Audition Advice: Only join EDA if you know 100% it's what you want to do in life. It’s not a game or a hobby, it’s a lifestyle.
Why Emil Dale Academy? Emil Dale provided methods to allow me to train to the best of my ability, creating a positive mind set and building my strength in the industry.
What is the hardest thing about training at the Emil Dale Academy? I think the hardest part of the day is when I wake up and can’t take it anymore, but you learn to push through it.
What is your favourite thing about the Emil Dale Academy? I love the energy and the positive vibe that everyone has.

Want in? www.emildale.co.uk/EDA ... admissions@emildale.co.uk
Name: Jodie Wallman Course: 2 Year BTEC Musical Theatre (2nd Year)
Audition Advice: - Believe in yourself. Treat the audition as a time to show off everything you're good at. Enjoy yourself and try to embrace the surrounding as much as possible! You’ll know if it’s the right place for you.
Why Emil Dale Academy? - I was immediately drawn to the atmosphere at EDA. It is so lively and encouraging, it just makes you want to learn and train hard! I also loved everything they offered with the course including the contact hours, weekly 1:1 singing lessons and West End master classes.
What is the hardest thing about training at the Emil Dale Academy? - Initially, having stamina. Coming from a normal upper school, I was not used to the amount of intensive hours you receive in this training. However, after the first term I had completely adapted and felt more energised than ever before! I think this is so important going into such a physically demanding industry.
What is your favourite thing about the Emil Dale Academy? - The people! The staff and students are some of the best people you’ll ever meet. Everyone is so encouraging and you never feel alone. You are constantly being given help if you need it and you are always treated as an individual person, not a number which is just the best feeling.
