Environmentally Sustainable Systems helps find sustainable solutions to biodiversity threats, climate change adaptation, and the management of energy, waste and other resources. These solutions are delivered through research and assessment studies, environmental surveys, statistical modelling and analysis, scientific and policy reports, together with a range of public presentations, workshops, formal training courses, lectures and seminars. Environmentally Sustainable Systems was established as an environmental consultancy in 1995 by our Director Paul Gill. The company, incorporated in 2003 and now trading as ESS Ecology, ESS Training and ESS Solutions, applies the principles of sustainability in all its operations, and works to the highest quality, health & safety and environmental standards, providing services tailored to the individual needs of each and every client. ESS Ecology has specialised for twenty-four years in the renewable energy sector, having conducted bird and marine mammal studies at nineteen offshore wind farm sites, including for ten years at Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm, and comprehensive terrestrial ecological surveys and Environmental Impact Assessment studies at over seventy onshore wind farm sites. The company has successfully extended its ecological, planning, development and construction expertise to the health, education and sustainable housing sectors. ESS Solutions advises businesses, councils and other public bodies, on resource efficiency, waste, energy and carbon management, circular economy business models, transport planning, land management and Environmental Management Systems, often integrated with Quality and Health & Safety Management Systems. ESS Training provides workshops, training and teaching courses to councils, businesses, individuals, schools, colleges and universities on sustainability and sustainable development, biodiversity and nature conservation, climate change and renewable energy.
