Hello, hello... Wondering why it's been so quiet here? Well, after more than three years of working for the Scottish Documentary Institute, Ben started a new company in Edinburgh called Film & Campaign, focusing on campaigns around documentaries (and occasionally producing documentaries about campaigns). The first year has been one amazing ride. If you want to follow us on our new adventure, you'll need to head over to that page. Would you...?
So this is what Ben has been shooting recently... Have a look?
Gosh, it's been a bit quiet here, hasn't it? Let's all sing "We All Live in a Yellow Nuclear Powered Ballistic Missile Submarine"...
Watch http://www.lochlongmonster.com if you don't know about those submarines.
Today's news: "The Panelbase poll for the Sunday Times and Real Radio has shown a dramatic narrowing in the polls for the referendum on an independent Scotland, with a swing of only just over 5% now required to secure a Yes vote in the September 2014 vote. The poll shows support for Yes at 36%, No at 46%, and 'don't knows' at 18% - the narrowest gap in the campaign so far."
We really need to make a follow-up of Ben's documentary about the pro-independence party in the first-ever Scottish elections in 1999... http://muvi.es/w35
The Scottish Parliament is debating Trident nuclear weapons today. We're marking the day by making this film available online, which is just as topical as it was when we made it.
It's about time to dust off THE LOCH LONG MONSTER and make it available digitally.
Gosh, a bit quiet here, isn't it? Ben has been super-busy with his work for the Scottish Documentary Institute... check it out!
What a nice reminder of the Loch Long Monster (http://www.lochlongmonster.com).
THE LOCH LONG MONSTER revisited...
Proud to have contributed a little to this...
A new majority for Scottish independence - just like there was one before we started this project here: http://www.ToBeANationAgain.com/
Bewegte Zeiten's docu series following teenagers on a tall ship, KLASSE SEGEL ABENTEUER, is shown 'outside' the children's channel for the first time. The episodes shot by Ben are airing over the next few days on Bayerisches Fernsehen. http://ow.ly/6cjDo
We're very happy to learn that Gary Hustwit's new documentary film, Urbanized, has been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival. Among other cities, the film features the controversy around 'Stuttgart 21', which was field-produced and partially shot by Ben Kempas, and later also transcribed and translated by expressive.tv.
From 15 August, Ben is going to work as a producer on the Scottish Documentary Institute's new 'Virtuous Circle' initiative, focusing on in-depth audience engagement. We'll do our best to keep expressive.tv running in the meantime but Ben's availability over the next 16 months will be a bit limited.
