About Faith In Community Dundee

Welcome to Faith in Community Dundee (FiCD) Facebook page. This page is dedicated to improving the understanding of poverty and highlighting some of the actions taken to improve fairness and equality in Dundee.

Faith In Community Dundee Description

Faith in Community Dundee wants to address the high levels of poverty and social exclusion which are an historic feature of communities in Dundee. Its aim is to help build the capacity of people and communities so that they can tackle poverty in the most deprived parts of Dundee. We engage primarily with faith communities to help build on their commitment, resources and local knowledge.

The origins of Faith in Community Dundee lie in the startling profile of the city as the second poorest in Scotland, as indicated by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2004. This stimulated thinking about how faith organisations should be making some active, practical response to this. Subsequent versions of SIMD in 2006 and 2009 have seen some changes but the overall pattern still endures.

To achieve our aims, we work in partnership with Faith in Community Scotland, an anti-poverty charity founded in 2005. A local Management Group, with the support of the Operations Manager of Faith in Community Scotland, now carries responsibility for the development of our work.

Scottish Charity No: SC036787, Limited Company No: 288937
