Farquhar Has been a Funeral Director since 2005 running his own business on the Isle of Harris but has decided to move his home and business to Skye where his father was born. We have a fully fitted mortuary facility at our new premises in Broadford ensuring the best care for your loved one till the day of the funeral. We also run a 5 door Mercedes hearse allowing 2 family members to travel with their loved one from the church to the cemetery. We gained an excellent reputation for the quality of our coffins on Harris and will continue to use the same coffins on Skye.
We also offer Golden Charter pre paid funeral plans , as the sole agent for Golden Charter on Skye if you already have a Golden Charter plan you can transfer it to us at no cost.

We at F Macleod Funeral Directors in Broadford are immensely proud of the emergency services and support staff that we have here in the UK and to that aim we have recently signed up to the Blue Light Card Discount Scheme. If a Blue Light Card holder arranges a funeral for a loved one or indeed their family have to use our services for the holder then we will discount our services by £200 as a thank you for their services.
Following on from Thursdays ITV documentary ‘Pay now, die later’ we’d like to reassure all of our families that the only fees associated with our Golden Charter Funeral Plans is the admin fee which is detailed on the application forms as a separate charge upfront from the start which covers the setting up and administering of the plan in an independent trust fund.
It’s interesting to note that Golden Charter weren’t mentioned in the programme which shows how clear and upfront... they are on this matter, Golden Charter administration fee to look after your plan be it for 1 year or 50 years is just £249 which is stated up front and is included in the cost , we at F Macleod Funeral Directors only sell Golden Charter plans and guarantee to carry out the funeral exactly as described at time of inception with no extra charges from us
Our advice has always been that the best person to buy a funeral plan from is the people who will be carrying out your funeral and not a marketing or administration firm who ultimately won’t be looking after you and your family at the time!

To this end we are currently looking for a suitable office in Portree as an addition to our Broadford office . Until we find a suitable place in Portree we would c...onsider renting space in a high profile area for an advertising banner if anyone has anything suitable,We feel if we have an office in Portree as well as Broadford people in the North end will see that we offer a superb service at an affordable cost . Our first big delivery of fingerprint jewellery for a local family . All engraved with the fingerprint of their loved one. Thanks to life expressions uk ltd . Life expressions only works with independent funeral directors so we are the only agent on Skye for this service
We now offer a service called Life Expressions where with full permission from the family we take a scan of a loved ones fingerprint and scan it to a company that then engraves the fingerprint on to a piece of jewellery such as a necklace, ring, bracelet, cuff links or photo frame etc. This then becomes a lovely keep sake to treasure forever. We are currently the sole agents for this service on Skye.
A Land Rover hearse we used on a funeral today for a Land Rover enthusiast . The hearse was built specially by its owner driver Peter and turned out looking amazing

The Ensay funeral consists of Collect deceased and convey to our premises Arrange and conduct funeral Care of the deceased Hire of hearse and driver / bearer Oak veneer raised lid plain side coffin
The St Kilda funeral consists of Collect deceased and convey to our premises Arrange and conduct funeral Care of the deceased Hire of hearse and driver/ bearer Oak veneer raised lid panel side coffin
We also offer a direct cremation service for £1950
All the above services include 60 free miles with a charge of £1.00 per mile thereafter.
We have never charged for children up to and including 18 Years of age and we never will.
All the above prices exclude council fees which all differ depending on your needs.
We have a private viewing room where you can spend as long as you like with your loved one no matter what time it is at no charge.
