Happy New Year to you all. What do you want to achieve in 2018? What do you most need to be fearless about to make it happen? Would love to hear from you.
My word of 2018 is EASE. 2017 was a hard slog in many ways and I want to enjoy my life, my family and my business and my clients more this year. I need to be fearless about planning, focus and self care. About saying No more and setting clear boundaries so I can say YES to the right things and deliver the impact I want to make.

Wouldn’t it be great to head into the festive season knowing your self assessment is complete? You would be able to budget for your tax bill. Feel secure that you won’t need to make a late payment fine. Leaving you free to enjoy the festivities to the full. January can be miserable enough without having to do your tax return as well!
You could pay an accountant to do your tax return for you which will cost you at least a couple of hundred quid. However, if your tax affairs are relatively straight forward, there is no reason you can't do it yourself. You just need a little guidance in order to improve your confidence and that is why I have created my webinar, Succeed at Self Assessment.

Who hasn't done their 16/17 Self Assessment yet? You are in luck. Join my webinar next Wednesday to get guided through completing your tax return in November. For a no brainer investment you can increase your confidence; lower your tax bill & reclaim your Christmas by getting it done in November. Please share with your sole trader pals who want to start January focused on 2018 goals rather than 2016 receipts....

This #FinanceFriday I have a friendly reminder that second payments on account are due to HMRC for Self Assessment this Monday.
What's a payment on account? Well if you had an income tax bill over £1k last self assessment, HMRC impatiently want payments upfront with a payment for the 16/17 tax year due both on the 31 Jan 17 and 31 July 2017. This is calculated at 50% of your last self assessment bill. Any differences to what you actually owe are taken into account when you s...ubmit your 16/17 Self Assessment and additional tax due by 31 Jan 2018.
If you know you will have less tax to pay this year you can apply to reduce your Payments on Account.
Another reason to get your Self Assessment for 16/17 done sooner rather than later! Message us if you want help. We can free up your time by doing it for you or give you peace of mind through our healthcheck and training sessions.

I encourage my clients to keep up to date digital financial records so they can use their numbers for success. However I understand how this can take time to embed.
Therefore I welcome the announced delays by HMRC to the Making Tax Digital scheme, which was due to go live from April 2018.
Following concerns that neither HMRC nor large numbers of small business would be ready, the scope and timetable have now been pared back as follows:
... - Only businesses with a turnover above the VAT threshold will have to keep digital records and only for VAT purposes. They will only need to do so from 2019. This is not expected to be much more work than what they do already for VAT returns.
- Businesses will not be asked to keep digital records or update HMRC quarterly for other taxes until at least 2020, instead of 2018 as originally proposed.
- Small businesses will be able to file digitally on a voluntary basis for other taxes.

I’ve found my accountant . First meeting and knew instantly that Gillian was the one to guide me through the world of financials.

User

I can't thank Gillian enough for helping me out with a tax issue that was causing me a great deal of worry. She's absolutely 'on it' in terms of what working in the arts might entail as regards tax issues and made me - a complete financial illiterate - feel so much better. She's very friendly, accommodating and quick to respond. I'd definitely recommend her and will use Fearless Financials again for sure!

User

Gillian is so easy to talk to and provided me with great business and financial advice, as well as guidance on the direction I should be heading based on my passions and skill sets. Tremendous business coaching with care and compassion!

User

Gillian is absolutely fantastic at healing that unforgiving knot you get in your naval Chakra when you think about the prospect of spending the rest of your adult life in jail for having done something stupid you didn't know about with your tax work.

She will go an extra mile in answering your questions and giving you all the options you need to the point that you will start to look at the taxman with a smile in your face and the flawless hope that all the money you hand him is going the contribute in making the country a blissful eden.
