🎉💵🎉💵 Inverkeithing celebrates National Lottery win! We’ve been awarded initial development funding of up to £50,500 by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for repairs and improvements to the town’s historic streetscape and buildings. Thanks to National Lottery players, this funding is another step forward in Inverkeithing’s regeneration and could form part of a £3 million investment in the town.
More detailed proposals are now set to be submitted to apply for a full National Lot...tery grant of up to £1.2 million. A complementary bid will be made to Historic Environment Scotland for a Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) in Inverkeithing, and if both bids are successful, funding will be combined to deliver a five-year regeneration programme.
We’re working hard with local partners and Fife Historic Buildings Trust and to develop our second round application, and hope see the Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme /Towns Heritage programme begin in 2019.🎉💵🎉💵

Have you visited Fife Cycle Park yet? The facility is already a training home for local clubs and is attracting its fair share of prestigious events and races. Some of the best feedback so far though has been from youngsters learning to ride a bike and adults getting back in the saddle and regaining their confidence. The Park runs 'pay to pedal' sessions every week and this Saturday they will also be holding a FREE family fun day - the perfect opportunity to try it out! Like the Fife Cycle Park page to find out more.

How could you make a difference in your local community – and feel good by giving something back?
Volunteering is a great way to achieve both! And as part of Challenge Poverty Week we’re hearing about the volunteers at the Dunfermline Advice Hub. The Hub volunteers help people from all walks of life, making them feel welcome, listening to their needs, and pointing people in the right direction for services that could help, and most importantly, providing a cuppa for people w...ho might just need a blether.
Nicola has been volunteering for over a year, and she said: “I love volunteering – I started at the Hub when I had to do an assignment on volunteering for university, and I stayed on because I believed in what the Hub was trying to achieve. I more I volunteered, the more I feel part of the community. I love being able to help people when they are at their lowest, and to give them hope.”

Happy Hump Day – and day three of this year’s Challenge Poverty Week. Today we’re talking about food poverty – something that affects people across Fife. But there are many people and organisations pulling together to help combat food poverty. Here’s Angela’s story…. A victim of domestic abuse, Angela had recently moved to a homeless unit to escape her situation. At the same time, her benefits were disrupted and she found that she couldn’t pay for daily essentials like food.... CLEAR’s Community Fridge in Buckhaven were there to help. CLEAR is a small charity which uses the food they grow, as well as supermarket surplus food and donations to stock their Community Fridge. Anyone in need of fresh food can drop in at certain times of the week and help themselves - with no need for a referral. It’s a lifeline for those in need. For more information about @ClearFife, visit www.clearfife.org.uk. CLEAR have pledged their support to help create a fairer Fife. Let us know what you are doing to challenge poverty and create a fairer Fife. Take the pledge here https://fairer.fife.scot/the-pledge/ #challengepoverty #fairerfife #ayewecan

The council is supporting Climate Week 2018 by celebrating 🎉🎊Scotland's positive work on tackling climate change. In the past year, Fife has been affected by extreme weather, with the ‘beast from the east’ at the beginning of the year to one of the hottest summers on record. Our climate is changing, and over the next 10 – 15 years these extremes in weather will be more frequent, so it’s essential that Fife prepares for this climate change and builds resilience and protection ...for communities.
We're also pleased to have been awarded £10k of funding from Adaptation Scotland https://www.adaptationscotland.org.uk to run a project in the Levenmouth area. Working with communities in Leven, Buckhaven and Methil, alongside partner organisations, the project will ensure local communities are climate ready and aware.
