Filmhouse

My favourite cinema. I love the variety of films they show and they put on some superb seasons (Uncanny Valley and Scotland Loves Anime are my faves). Staff are lovely and the bar does fantastic food, with something for everyone.

I was just at the Restaurant, but it was great! I love the film theme. But I would recommend the white not the brown bread :D

THE place to go for people who love film. Part of a European family of cinema houses which share latest, international, art house, and quirky films. Host to the Film Festival. A great DVD shop of many genres in the foyer. Still has an almost family atmosphere. The screens are a bit old fashioned. The café is popular but is perhaps not as professional or up to date as it could be.

In my opinion this is the best cinema in the world. Certainly it's the best cinema in Edinburgh.

They have a good range of art-house films, great photos and pictures on the wall and a cafe/restaurant that is buzzing in the evenings.

Great old school cinema, with good selection of films. They have all, from classic to modern cinematic treasures. Bar on site a bonus, having a pint while watching the movie is great.

The bar is expensive and not all that atmospheric, the seats don't have much leg room and aren't very comfortable, the screens are a bit clapped out but it has one redeeming feature which makes up for all that... the regular audience is so pretentious and irritating that you'll be thankful they have the Filmhouse. It means they don't show up in regular theatres cluttering the place up with their highbrow rubbish.

The only 70mm projector in Scotland.
Make sure you don't miss the special events they do for 70mm screenings, and whilst you're there try the food.

Great atmosphere, good meeting point, and hub for the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

There are so many good artist movies here. If you are not interested into those " funny" movie in normal cinemas, it is the best place for you.

Great venue for independent films and official place for the international film festival, nice coffee ☕ with multicultural atmosphere and amazing beers

Great film selection but small seats and no popcorn!

Great selection of harder to see films and a good cafe bar with an awesome film quiz each month.

Spend my winter break with this cinema. It makes me feel less depressed somehow. It's incredible.

Good atmosphere. Seats are slightly uncomfortable (generally took me 3 attempts to spell 'comfortable' there. Maybe its too early to be writing reviews). Drinks at the bar aren't the most expensive. Didn't try the popcorn, which is a major regret of mine.

Great range of films not available in vhains. Good cafe bar. Very central. Film festival.
