Finders Keepers

Hi everyone! I am (as usual) in full swing this week in my shop/workshop in Scalpay School. This week we have a craft Market in Tarbert on Friday, so.....I will be in Scalpay on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, core hours 10.30am until 4.30pm, but it's looking like I'll probably be there earlier and working later this week as I've lots of lovely work on for both North Harbour Bistro and for the Harris Distillery! Hello all. Firstly apologies for not updating my page in such a long time. I am not a social media type of person - preferring to do things "in person", I'm just a dinosaur really....but I must try harder, and so here is my update. I HAVE MOVED! The old library room became available in the old Scalpay School so I jumped at the chance - it's so ugly from the outside (I intend to try and pretty it up!) but please do come in and take a look at what I've done. I have tried t...o make my room as pretty as my old 'shed' - very hard to do when the walls are painted a mustardish coloured gloss!!! The positive is that I have much more room, so can display more goodies and make more mess behind my table and screen. I am open most days Monday to Friday (when my open sign is displayed) and it would be lovely to see you if you are out and about on Scalapy between 11am and 4pm at the moment - NO obligation for you to make a purchase, it would be good just to see friendly faces and get your opinion. I intend to post new photos of my new abode and my new stock (!?!?) so keep watching - and play heck with me if I lapse!!! I will continue to attend the craft markets in Tarbert Community Centre - the first of which is on Good Friday and then on Easter Monday with the Flavor Food Fair in between on the Saturday - so a cracking Easter weekend! I meant to post this last week, but have been a wee bit busy..... It was a great first Handmade Harris craft market last thursday - Harris and Scalpay stall holders had some great products for sale and it was good to see many local residents come and support this new venture. I think most of us had a really good day and we all enjoyed it - thanks go to Linda (HDL) and Gordon (TCC) for the hard work they put in both beforehand and on the day! I look forward to the next one...... If you want to book a table for the next one get in touch with Linda on the Handmade Harris page - all crafters, artists, makers and bakers would be welcome.

Apart from the sun disappearing (hopefully only a temporary setback!) it feels like summer is just around the corner - it was a great craft market on Saturday, have had quite a few visitors to my wee shop/shed and am really looking forward to the new Handmade Harris craft market this Thursday. I hope local residents and holiday makers alike will come and support this new venture - there are some really talented people in Harris and Scalpay, so come and treat yourselves to a handmade keepsake from the Islands !

Good Morning All, What a stunning morning - it's mornings like these you ask yourself "what wind? what rain?...." (Although I do apologise to my friends and family in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire because it's SNOWING!!). But that's the magic of the Hebrides for you!
