Santa's Grotto events are now posted. Ho Ho Ho :) Remember, we do things a little differently at Finlaystone, no queuing up, you get your very own time slot to see Santa, a pressie that is age and gender specific to your child and wait for it, it's even addressed to them from Santa. That wee personal touch to make it a bit more special. :) Plus free arts and crafts with the Elves in the Laundry too. :)

User

Visit Santa at Finlaystone, join the magical Santa Trail to Santa's Grotto, spend time with Santa and get an addressed pressie for your child, pop into the Old Laundry Building and write a letter to Santa and do some Christmassy arts and crafts with the Elves. Tickets cost £17.50 per child. Call 01475 540505 to reserve your very own time slot to see Old Father Christmas. Ho Ho Ho

It's here, Finlaystone Fright Night, be scared, be afraid, be thrilled by the Walking Theatre Company delivering a spooky moonlit walk in the forest. Not for Toddlers or push chairs, please bring torches. BBQ food, drinks, tea and coffee on sale all evening.

Well I am in love with the tree tagging, can’t believe it has took me so long to discover this, brought my 2 youngest kids along today to pick our tree, hubby can’t wait till we are able to chop it down and tie it onto the roof of the car lol, I think this is an amazing family fun thing to do and it makes Christmas that extra special, definitely a family tradition from now on, thank you for an amazing experience I will never forget

User

We were biased, having McMillans on my side and my wifes. But really, the grounds are beautiful and the people were friendly. The food establishment was very busy because of school tours.

User

We had our first time at Finlaystone last night at the wild camping night. We all had a fantastic time from the friendly rangers who took all our camping gear to the site for us, showed the kids how to build a fire minus a match or lighter, and took us on the bat hunt at night answering all the curious kids questions. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon.

User

We had an amazing time today, my 2 year old granddaughter enjoyed everything and am sure she will be having many more adventures here, my niece and two kids were on there 2nd visit so it was nice to have a tour guild, looking forward to my next visit and the spring and summer months ahead

User

Our four year old absolutely loved the Santa experience with the snow machine putting a big smile on his face. We are regular visitors to the park and we have yet to get bored with the experience and always find something new or a different way of doing things. Sometimes playing with sticks in the forest is enough for us.

We had a slight mix up with Santa's present however; the staff as always went the extra mile and sorted it. The Carol singers only added to the experience this year. Well-done folks.

User

Our first time visiting the park and we had great night at the big wild sleep out. The rangers where very friendly and helpful taking our stuff upto the campsite. It was wet but the rangers still took us on a walk to find bats and she was very knowledgeable and had great interaction with the youngsters. Our son had great fun exploring and just walking around the woods. Well done to Finlaystone and all there rangers on a great night camping

My 2 sisters and I visited yesterday for the first time in about 20 years with my 5 yr old niece and 12 yr old nephew. By the time we arrived and changed into decent footwear, it was 2pm when we set off for the Scout Trail. It was hard work and muddy in places but we had such a laugh trying to climb and descend at certain parts of it. The weather was lovely so that was a huge bonus and the views at the top of the trail were amazing. Once we reached the picnic area, the kids ran off to play and had great fun. We then decided to explore and found places we didn't know existed so ended up rushing to get to the car park for closing time at 5pm. The kids and us BIG kids have had the most fantastic day and can't wait to come back but next time, we'll be arriving a lot earlier in the day to make sure we try and fit everything in.

It has taken 20 years for us to come back... definitely won't be waiting that long again.

I visited yesterday for the Fairy Door event with my 4 year old girl & 12 week old baby & we had a wonderful time! I haven't been to Finlaystone in about 20 years (!) and was a bit unsure of where I was going and what to expect, especially because I had the baby in the pram. All the staff were friendly and very helpful, offering advice on the best trail etc. I had my baby in the carry cot part of the pram & had to turn back to the car & swap the pram for the baby carrier because the trail was just too bumpy. So if you're coming with a young baby bring a baby carrier! We visited the tea room where, again, all staff were very friendly and helpful. I also thought the prices were pretty decent. We had a really lovely day. My wee girl loved the painting event & all the play parks and the fairy trail. Good to see dogs are allowed so we'll be going back soon with the whole family :)

User

Hadn't been to Finlaystone for years. The Santa visit and trail sounded good so we booked one of the last slots. Glad we did, it was fab! Santa experience was great, cafe food and baking was delicious and all the staff were amazing. We'll definitely be back for Santa next year but I think it will become a regular haunt for us all before then!

User

Had an absolutely fantastic time at the Wild Night yesterday. Grounds are beautiful, loads of play parks. So well organised and the kids loved it. Especially the bat walk at dusk. Highly reccommended for all ages.

Fantastic family day out!!

There is so much to do woodland walks, the gardens and the cafe!! (which is very reasonably priced). Kids love all the play areas. A great fun filled day!! Can't wait til our next visit!!! I received a family membership for Christmas and am looking forward to visiting the estate regularly over the coming year !!

User

Another great trip to Finlaystone. The greatest asset here has got to be the very pleasant and helpful staff, most of who are very young. The cafe has a good selection, reasonable prices and great service. We were part of a party with about 20 children. They had great fun playing in the woods on the fort, ship etc. Then they had an hour den building with a ranger who I know from previous bug hunts is very knowledgeable. Highlight was seeing the owl chicks and the children learning lots about them from a very patient staff member. We will be back soon no doubt.

User

A beautiful, unspoilt park with so many areas for the kids to explore. We bought an annual pass a few months ago and have visited numerous times already. A great place for kids to play in a natural environment - climbing, building, splashing, exploring, getting muddy and most importantly having lots of fun. The gardens are beautiful for a walk and the cafe is lovely too. One of our favourite places 😊

User

Our whole family had a day here together for the Easter egg hunt The weather caused the forest trail to be muddy but the kids had their wellies and so had a great time running mad. Lovely food afterwards in the cafe made for a lovely day out. We will definitely be back when the weather is better. The cost does seem quite a lot for entry but I'm quite happy to pay as the maintenance must cost a fair bit year round. I'm looking forward to more visits.

User

Myself, my partner and my 2 year old son visited yesterday afternoon. The surroundings are absoutley beautiful, great open space for my son run about. Fantastic picnic areas and lots of things to do and discover for the children. Great place for plenty of adventures and we will definitely be back in the future. Thank you.

User

Lovely family day out.

Having read the reviews we knew not to take the buggy and set off on a walk. But went the wrong way and found ourselves on the yellow walk, but kept going. This is a little too difficult for children under 10, very boggy and we had to turn back as it was too hard and dangerous for our kids (7&3).

If we lived closer the annual pass would be a no brainier, but £17 for a family of 5 was decent value for the day.

Feedback - should make it clear on the maps that the yellow scout trail isn’t really suitable for children of a younger age.

User
