Scottish technology startup Flexergy Ltd helps hydrogen project developers reduce the cost of compressed hydrogen gas making it an economically viable replacement for diesel and natural gas fuels. Using energy efficiency and circular economy principles from the compressed air space, the company is developing a unique technology for ultra-efficient compression, storage and distribution, an area where there is huge scope for improvement over current solutions. The company has won funding from Transport Scotland and InnovateUK to investigate refuelling systems for heavy duty vehicles using zero emission hydrogen gas and has been awarded support from NatWest Group's CleanTech acceleration programme. Members of the team and its advisors have previously founded an innovative compressed air energy storage company, developed renewable energy projects in the global copper industry, headed executive management, engineering and innovation teams at major energy, and aerospace and compressor manufacturing firms.
