Overpriced. Lovely building and grounds with family photos showing you it's a lived in place. But only get to see a small part... Expected to see more than about four rooms for £11.50. nice grounds. Did the Riverside walk which can be done in an hour. Would have liked to explore the grounds more.

We visited on a fine Autumn (Fall) day, the castle is more of a stately home than a fortress, and made a great backdrop for the mature trees in the grounds. Inside there's the typical selection of antique furniture and oil paintings, you are only allowed into a small proportion of the rooms.

The castle is spectacular, the guides showing us around were very pleasant and extremely informative. The gardens are very well tended with a huge variety of plants and flowers. Well worth a visit.

The walk along the river is very picturesque! Some art within the castle is truly a treasure worth visiting

User

A bit pricey but a very nice place for walk through, lovely gardens and great interior. Fascinating how it is the largest inhabited house in Scotland

A castle with impressive vistas. Best viewed from across the Tweed. Nice grounds to walk in. Castle interior has some interesting tapestries and furniture, loads and loads of portraits, an extensive collection of stuffed birds and various other historic artefacts.
