Fabulous photos from David Flett of the 6th FluteFling Edinburgh Weekend.
Thanks to Dr Sarah Deter at the University Historical Musical Instruments Collection, our wonderful tutors this year - Rebecca Knorr, Claire Mann and Munro Gauld. Also to the Cathal McConnell Trio for their special performance at Bellfield. And importantly to everyone who came and supported and took part in the weekend!

Cathal McConnell (flute, whistles, song), Karen Marshalsay (Scottish harp) and Kathryn Nicoll (fiddle, viola) in an acoustic concert.

Cathal McConnell is one of traditional music’s true legends. As a founder of Boys of the Lough he has taken Irish music round the world, touring the US countless times and entertaining audiences with his sweetly sung ballads, his lightly worn tin whistle and flute virtuosity and his inimi...table drolleries.
A one-man carrying stream of tradition, McConnell has music and song in his blood and he is particularly in his element when accompanied by his superbly talented friends, fiddler and violist Kathryn Nicoll and harper Karen Marshalsay, delivering the ‘pure drop’ and roguish charm that won him a Herald Angel award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015.
An evening with Cathal McConnell in any situation is time well spent and this evening with the Cathal McConnell Trio is sure to be musically enriching, hugely rewarding and a whole lot of fun.
The concert rounds off a day of flute and whistle workshops as part of FluteFling’s 6th Annual Edinburgh Weekend. Please note that the concert will last approximately 75 minutes and there will be no interval.
Unfortunately a bar will no longer be available. However, drink is allowed, so feel free to bring your own.
