About Forest To Fork

Forest to Fork provides responsible deer management and the supply of quality wild venison.

Forest To Fork Description

Wild venison is naturally free range and so contains no added substances sometimes found in farmed meat. Wild venison is also very sustainable; without any natural predators in Scotland, deer numbers need to be managed in order to maintain a healthy population. In some areas it is also necessary to reduce deer numbers in order to protect important habitats, woodlands or agricultural crops. Wild venison is therefore a quality by product of an essential management process.

Venison is a very lean and tasty alternative to beef, pork and lamb. It is high in protein but very low in cholesterol and fat (with virtually no saturated fatty acids). Venison also contains higher levels of iron than any other red meat.

Forest to Fork sells venison either as a half or whole carcass, with the price being calculated on the butchered weight.

Typically, a butchered roe deer will cost between £100-£140 and consist of:

2 haunches (shanks and pelvic bones removed)
1 pack of rump steaks (2 steaks per pack)
1 pack of tender loin steaks (2 steaks per pack)
4 packs of strip loin steaks (2 steaks per pack)
6 packs of mince (good quality meat, mainly from the shoulders)

Other than the one bone in each haunch, all other bones are removed making the meat quick and easy to prepare for cooking. The mince is particularly popular with customers due to its versatility. With all cuts vacuum packed and clearly labelled it is nice and compact, ready for the freezer.

Being a wild source of meat, availability of venison varies throughout the year and so it is always best to place an order and I will contact you as soon as your venison is ready.

Alternatively, any available venison will be posted from time to time.
