Happy Mayday !!
It's a day off for me ...I started the day with an early morning walk with my fella Scott ...we did just over 3 miles.
Then Lottie and I popped out for a forage around a few charity shops so she could get some 'new' togs and she applied to be a volunteer ..her first job ..proud mumma.
... After that we went to visit my friend Ali at her farm stay #arnbegfarmstayscotland , we met the lambs , Otis and Blue the alpacas, Jack, Victor, Gin and Tonic the goats, Wilma the beautiful piggy and loads more I could mention, Ali was working on reinforcing the fencing in the goats field.
It felt so good to get dirty and interact with all the animals and see Ali. Charlotte had the best day ever ( her words) and much needed down time from her exams and study leave.
We popped into see dad on the way home, he was pottering about whilst listening to classical music 😀
I'm now settled watching episode 3 of Game of Thrones again whilst knitting 😁.

🎵🎶 When will I see you again 🎶🎵

Good morning and welcome to all my new likers and lurkers.
For those who don't know me my name is Wendy and I moved to Bo'ness 20 years ago via a military posting, I quickly fell in love with the town, its people and a local man 😉 and settled here with my children.
My parents retired here in 2005.
... My dad was an inventor/mechanic/ DIY enthusiast who could make or fix anything , he was a REME guy 😁 and I was brought up to fix things, reuse items and to appreciate their worth. My mum was an amazing woman who knew all about every craft you could think of, she had green fingers, loved technology and ruled the roost 😁. Sadly she died in December after a long battle with vascular dementia, we cared for her at home with help from the girls at Montana home care, it was the hardest and proudest thing I've ever done.
As a family we are passionate about reusing , recycling and have a make do and mend mentality...I personally haven't bought new clothing/ accessories in several years.
The aim with my shop is to remind people about the quality pre loved items that are out there already and that you don't need to buy new to have beautiful or practical clothing/ accessories or home decor.
Our ethos is 'not in our name', we will not have people in factories in far flung countries mass producing new items where we do not know the working conditions.
I also work closely with groups from contact the elderly, care homes and private customers/ carers who benefit from spending time in my shop reminiscing ..looking at items from times gone by and this hopefully sparks happy memories.
I understand how stressful it is being a carer and offer a listening ear and a pot of tea, so if you're passing pop in and say hi 💜.
Remember to reuse, Remember the quality of vintage items, Remember times of a simpler life.

Good morning Forget Me Nots....it's Monday... let this be your week to make good things happen.
It's also day 29 in #myshoplife19
• Plans for my shop •
... I only opened last October so there are a few things that need doing .
I think my shop name going up is my next priority, the shop my building is in is a C listed one and we are in a heritage town so any work on the outside of the building has to done carefully and conservatively with this in mind. I have a trustworthy local tradesman who is going to repaint the front for me , the colours will remain the same as with accordance with other properties in the town.
When I first opened I commissioned Amanda from @my_vinyl_cut to create my shop name and wording on my big fab windows...which I love so much.
As for the rest I just plan to go with the flow, build my brand and spread the reusing movement throughout my community and beyond 💜.

For me it has to be Lyons Hardware Shop, 32 South Street in Bo'ness. Lyons Hardware
As a make do and mend family we are always popping in for glue, drill bits, polish, varnish, screws etc ..you get the picture 🤩.
... Nothing is too much trouble for Stuart & Jennifer and if they haven't got what we need they order it in .
It's my dad's favourite place to mooch about too 😉.
They pride themselves on getting to know their customers and are lovely friendly people. . .

This is probably the tidiest this shop has been in a while :D ...I am expecting a group of ladies today for a private shop experience.
The kettles on, the sugar lumps are stacked neatly in their bowls and I've got musical memories of the fifties playing ...couldn't think of a better way to spend a spring Sunday afternoon 💜

Evening all , day 26 of #myshoplife19 ....Evolving and Changing.
The flow of Forget Me Not changes constantly and I'm learning everyday to just go with it. I hand pick every single item I bring into the shop and I never know what I'm going to buy until I see it so no two foraging trips bring the same results.
It's not the only thing that's changing ...I have seen first hand the change in people who wouldn't normally buy second hand, they are realising that by reusing they are... helping the environment and it's wonderful for me to see .

Good evening , it's been such a busy day.
Day 25 of the #myshoplife19 ...When you shop with me .
Well for a start you get me ...warts n all 😁, we laugh, we reminisce, we sometimes cry and we put the world to rights.
... So when you shop with me you are:
Helping me to support my family and you're always going to be helping the environment by buying second hand and reusing
Experiencing the atmosphere of nostalgia with the record player belting out anything from Dame Vera Lynn to the ever popular Grease album which will make you smile.
You'll be buying a unique antique, retro or vintage item.
You are able to ask me about the history/ background of the item you're buying as I do my best to find out as much as I can about it.
You'll be supporting a small business who also supports a few charities.
I could go on but you get the gist ...you're all important to me.

Good afternoon , Laura has just been in to collect your donations for the homeless on behalf of the Bethany Care Shelter in Edinburgh...she says a huge thank you .
Here are the things they are needing just now.
•Toiletries... i.e deodorant, soap, shampoo, razors, shaving foam, sanitary products etc.
... •New underwear for men and women...socks, pants etc.
•We are looking for donations of suncream too please .
They can be part / used bottles too so if you have any in the back of your cupboard or the bottom of your beach bag / suitcase that you are not using please consider handing them into me and I'll pass them on.
Thank you so much on behalf of The Bethany Care shelter and other hostels that Laura will be working in during the summer months.

Today's topic.. Being a shop keeper means to me 💜.
... Being a shop keeper has been a long standing dream of mine since I was a little girl selling fruit and ornaments to my dad thought the kitchen hatch 😁.
I love the face to face interaction with my customers and being able to sell the things I make and forage for is a great feeling .
I would also like to think that my shop adds something to our town and community as it's not just a shop but a place where people can come and reminisce with me while waiting for their bus or if they're at a loose end.

Well this is hilarious ...I'm meant to be dusting ...but am reading this beauty of an annual instead . I would of been 13 in 1984 and I was very naive 😉 and probably got the Whizzer and Chips annual that year 😂.
