Forth Bridges Festival 2014

The Forth Bridges Festival 2014 will celebrate the Forth Bridges, particularly focusing on the 50th birthday of the Forth Road Bridge through a programme of exciting and unique events in the areas surrounding the iconic landmarks. As part of Homecoming Scotland 2014 the Festival will run from 4th - 13th September and offer something for everyone. The Festival will bring a spectacular inclusive programme of unique events to North and South Queensferry. The events will focus on different aspects of ‘bridge life' with activities taking place on either side of the bridge. As part of the Festival there will be unique opportunities for members of the public to take part in, which will never have been available before the Festival. Dramatic highlights of the festival include: the largest outdoor sit down lunch in Scotland, Trips to the Top of the Forth Road Bridge Tower, a Boat Flotilla on the Firth of Forth, a Torchlight Procession across the Forth Road Bridge and the programme of events will then come to a close with a spectacular Firework Display. The festival will have something for everyone including a Scottish Food and Drink Market, an Art Trail exhibition, the chance to purchase a padlock to attach to the Forth Road Bridge and much more. The festival will promote a feeling of community as both sides of the bridges join together to celebrate the Forth Road Bridges Birthday. The signature events will catch the imagination of the local communities and will make them feel proud of the Bridges, whilst helping to promote the areas as a high quality place to visit and stay.
