**IMPORTANT INFORMATION UPDATE**
In response to the most recent announcement by the government yesterday (Tuesday 17th March 2020) Forth Children’s Theatre, have had to make a very difficult and disappointing decision, to postpone our upcoming production of Oliver at Edinburgh Academy.
We have always adhered to the advice issued by the UK government and the latest guidance on social distancing, has left us with no other choice. This decision was made based on the best interes...ts of all those involved including our cast, production team, volunteers and of course our audience. In these unprecedented times we have a duty of care to everyone connected to FCT.
Having said all of this, Oliver is not cancelled, merely postponed. We will be working hard behind the scenes to get another date together so that this show will take place. Everyone connected with this production of Oliver would like to thank the fantastic cast who have shown in rehearsals such dedication and enthusiasm for this show and look forward to when we can actually perform this show to the public.
We will be communicating to you on a regular bases of ongoing developments and the plans for the year ahead.
Anyone who has purchased a ticket will be refunded and we will be in touch to arrange this individually. Steps are already in place to make this happen, but if you could please bear with us while we work through this difficult situation. If you have any questions or queries you can contact any of the following people:
Kerry - Director k_phair@outlook.com
Angelo - Chair Person angelo@agmd.demon.co.uk
Thank you for all your hard work and continued support during these difficult times

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**
As you will be aware, we are currently facing a global pandemic surrounding Covid-19/Coronavirus and yesterday the UK and Scottish Governments made announcements on next steps, moving into the "Delay" phase as part of their 4 part plan.
As it currently stands we are fully following all Government advice and monitoring the situation very closely.
... The safety of our people's health is of utmost importance and we will be taking preventative measures.
The most important measure taking place with immediate effect is aimed at rehearsals. We will all be driving strict hand washing for all who attend to keep everyone safe.
We would also ask as individuals that you follow current Government guidelines.
Please bear with us during this difficult time, we will provide further updates once we know any further information from the rapidly changing situation we are currently in.
Thanks,
Forth Children's Theatre

Wow, what a day we had yesterday! Thank you to all those who came out in the horrible weather to audition for Oliver, what a turn out it was 😁 well done to every single person, the talent was incredible and it made our job of casting really difficult. Good luck and you should all receive your letters this week - please remember, whatever the outcome, you were all amazing and if it's not good news this time do try again next time ❤

Auditions for Oliver are THIS SUNDAY! Hands up who's excited?? 🙋‍♀️
For our final fun fact...
Did you know that the original composer of the Oliver score, Lionel Bart, couldn’t read music himself. Instead he would sing his melodies to a trained pianist who would then set the tunes down on sheet music and orchestrate them.
... Talking about singing melodies, for our auditions, all the materials will be learnt on the day (and just like Lionel, you don’t need to be able to read music) so there is no need to prepare anything in advance.
Good luck to all those planning on attending, do your best and have fun 😁

With just over a week to go here is another fun fact…
Did you know Mark Lester, who played the title role in the original film adaptation of Oliver, didn’t sing any of the songs himself, instead they were dubbed by the musical arranger’s daughter, Kathe Green.
To audition for this production we are looking for a strong cast - but that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be the best singer/dancer/actor around. We are interested in kids aged between 10 – 18 who are willing to ...work hard and are keen to learn!
All the details you need to audition are on the poster attached, but if you would like to know more then please get in touch!

The response to our previous 'fun fact' post was great, thanks to everyone who shared their memories with us, it really was lovely to read!
For the next fun fact…
Did you know in 2012 Oliver! went on a UK tour, during which it was estimated that the costume department did 64 loads of washing per week making use of the 3 washing machines, 4 tumble driers, 3 ironing boards and 3 steam generators that went on tour with them!
... Wow! Thankfully FCT don’t use as many costumes during a single production but I bet it feels like it for the costume wifies when it comes to washing everything at the end of the show run! If you are looking to get involved with our Easter production but are too old to audition or just don’t fancy being on stage please get in touch, there are many departments, like costumes, that would love to have you along.
