Forth Wanderers 3 Thorniewood United 2
A first half Nathan Cassidy goal and a second half double from Kris Jarvie gave the Wanderers a narrow victory over Thorniewood at a bitterly cold Kingshill this afternoon. Forth began strongly and Nathan Cassidy deservedly put them ahead after 13 minutes, although the 'Wood keeper will probably feel he should have dealt better with the shot. The Wanderers lead lasted barely 4 minutes however, as a well taken penalty from Damon Welsh lev...eled things up. That was the way it remained at the break, although both sides had chances in an evenly balanced game. It was the visitors who began the second half on the front foot and Jordan Rennie edged them ahead on 52 minutes but again the lead didn't last long, Kris Jarvie popping up to net the equaliser from close range just before the hour mark. The goal gave Forth momentum and 10 minutes later they were back in the lead. There were claims for offside as Lee Pettigrew picked up the ball wide on the right, but undaunted he moved forward and sent in a perfectly weighted cross for that man Jarvie to slide in and score. Credit to Thorniewood as they reacted well to this setback and pushed forward in numbers in search of an equaliser, and Forth had a couple of goal line clearances to thank for the points staying at Kingshill. The win moves Forth up to 6th in the table ahead of another tough encounter away to Vale of Clyde next week.

Forth Wanderers 4 Ardeer Thistle 2
The Wanderers left it late against Ardeer Thistle at Kingshill yesterday, two Connor Cowan goals on 86 and 92 minutes finally sealing a 4-2 victory. With several players unavailable, Forth were down to the bare bones but nonetheless started the match brightly, creating several chances in the opening minutes. However, when the opener did come it was through a fortuitous own goal after 17 minutes. Forth continued to press, looking to add to th...eir lead, but it was the visitors who equalised on 36 minutes and despite further Wanderers pressure 1-1 it remained at the interval. The evergreen Kris Jarvie made it 2-1 5 minutes into the second half but again, despite almost relentless Forth pressure, it was Ardeer who equalised on the hour mark. The visitors were threatening on the counter and Ryan Cherrie had to look lively to tip over a header and stop them edging ahead. The Wanderers were creating openings but the Ardeer rearguard held firm until those two late Cowan goals ensured the three points stayed at Kingshill.

Lanark United 4 Forth Wanderers 2
Lanark emerged victorious at Moor Park this afternoon, taking the derby spoils with a 4-2 victory. Goals after 8 and 18 minutes had the Yowes coasting, as again the Wanderers started poorly, and it took until midway through the first half for Forth to threaten. With the Wanderers back in the game and half time approaching, Lanark struck a killer blow making it 3-0 a minute from the break. Even then, the Wanderers squandered a great opportunit...y to reduce the deficit just on the whistle, James Van Nuil firing narrowly past after good work from Michael McGarahan. Forth made two positive substitutions at the break, replacing two defenders with two attack minded midfielders and this seemed to have a positive effect, as they began the half strongly. A fine McGarahan finish deservedly reduced the deficit on 58 minutes before Forth keeper Ryan Cherrie saved a Lanark penalty to keep it at 3-1. The Wanderers continued to press but were leaving gaps at the back and were punished on 78 minutes when the hosts made it 4-1. Forth pulled another back at the death to make it 4-2, but despite a much improved second half performance could have little complaint about the scoreline.

After some disappointing recent performances, the club have taken the decision to part company with our management team of Ian Rankin and Thomas Devine. The Wanderers would like to put on record our thanks for the efforts of Ian, Thomas and their staff and we wish them every success in the future.

FT : Forth 1 St. Anthony's 3
Another flat performance saw the Wanderers lose 3-1 to St.Anthony’s at Kingshill this afternoon. Chances had been at a premium in a fairly even first half until Grant Kelly opened the scoring for the Ants on 35 minutes. Their lead lasted barely a minute however as Scott Watson fired home for Forth to level things up and 1-1 it remained at the interval. The visitors were the dominant team after the break and restricted the Wanderers to only a couple of chances, which they failed to take, and goals from Jake McIlvaney after 68 minutes and John Ball with 5 minutes remaining saw the Ants deservedly take the 3 points back to Govan.

FT : Ellon United 3 Forth Wanderers 2
Thanks to Brian Tait for the report and Bethany Tait for the pictures 👍
The Wanderers made the long trip North to face northern super league outfit Ellon United in the second round of the Scottish Junior Cup.... Forth blooded new signing Ciaran McKee at the heart of the defence with goalkeeping coach Dan Gallagher taking the place of father to be Ryan Cherrie between the sticks. After a fairly even start Forth fell behind following a mazy run from the impressive Ellon left back who left a few Forth defenders in his wake before striking for goal. After as good save the Ellon centre forward tapped in from close range. Forth were battling well and had a Kris Jarvie strike ruled out by a dubious offside decision before equalising through a fine header from impressive debutant Ciaran McKee who provided much needed steel to the Wanderers defence.
Early in second half Forth were in command and were unlucky not to score from efforts from firstly Connor McArdle and then Tony Duffy.
It was Ellon however who took the lead with a swift counter attack after Forth lost possession from their own throw in.
Shortly after Forth equalised once again with Tony Duffy slotting home after comical defending from Ellon at a corner.
Joy for the Forth fans was shortlived however with Ellon taking the lead from the penalty spot after the ref spotted some wrestling in the box at an Ellon free kick.
Despite Forths best efforts the scoreline remained 3-2 with Ellon progressing to the next round.
Even though their team were beaten it was an enjoyable trip for the Forth faithful who witnessed their team giving their all but just falling short.
Best of luck to Ellon in the next round and many thanks for the warm welcome and post match hospitality.

FT : Carluke Rovers 2 Forth Wanderers 1
The Wanderers winning run came to an abrupt end at the John Cumming Stadium this afternoon when they lost 2-1 to Carluke Rovers. An abject first half showing saw Carluke deservedly two goals up at the interval through a Kieran Lafferty double, the Rovers striker scoring after 5 and 40 minutes to put the hosts in a commanding position. Mirroring recent performances however, the Wanderers improved after the break and trialist Anthony Duff...y slotted home a knockdown just before the hour mark to give them hope. Forth continued to press and a great individual run from Connor McArdle almost brought the equaliser, but ex-Forth man David Cherrie somehow turned his shot over the bar. Rovers threatened on the break and came close to increasing their lead on a couple of occasions, while the Wanderers couldn't take advantage of several set pieces in dangerous areas as the clocked ticked down and 2-1 it finished.

FT : Annbank United 2 Forth Wanderers 3
The Wanderers made it a hat-trick of wins in Ayrshire in consecutive weeks with a 3-2 victory over Annbank United at New Pebble Park this afternoon. However, Forth did it the hard way, coming back from 2 goals down at the interval to record the win. Annbank had the better of the first half and could have been further ahead than the two goals from the impressive Lee McClymont that they did manage. The hosts caused the Forth defence probl...ems each time they attacked and although the Wanderers were also seen as an attacking force at points, they struggled to create any clear chances and Annbank were well deserving of their 2-0 half-time lead. Forth made a change at the interval, replacing Aidan Meechan with Martin Janik and began the second period positively, taking the game to Annbank. The pressure paid off on 57 minutes when the Wanderers pulled a goal back through the unlikely figure of Kieran Brown. Kieran had failed to score in his previous 34 starts, despite hitting the woodwork on several occasions, but he unleashed a speculative 25 yard shot which seemed to wrong foot the home keeper before hitting the net to make it 2-1. Forth seemed to grow in confidence after this and it was no surprise when they leveled things up 10 minutes later and again it was that man Brown who notched it, pouncing when the ball broke to him after a corner and coolly slotting home. The Wanderers were now in complete control and completed the comeback on 67 minutes when Stephen Larkin fired home one of his trademark shots which left the home keeper with no chance. Credit to Annbank however, as rather than capitulating meekly they fought their way back into the game and only a couple of fine saves from Forth Keeper Ryan Cherrie kept the Wanderers ahead and ensured the three points were heading back to Kingshill. Next up, we travel along the road to face Carluke Rovers, currently sitting 5th in the league a point ahead of the Wanderers.
