Its main statutory duty is to act as a consultee in the planning and licensing process but it also discusses many other local issues such as roads, footpaths, litter, dog fouling, playgrounds, street lighting, etc.
The first fifteen minutes of the meeting are made available to members of the public who wish to address the council on any local matters. If there is more than one speaker from the public, each is limited to a maximum of five minutes to the first three, allocated on a first come, first served basis.
