Located on our mezzanine bar, this stained glass window is just one of the remarkable pieces of Frankenstein themed decor that fills our pub. Come and see for yourself🧟‍♂️

User

Stumbled across this pub on a dark windswept evening and loved it - great decor - set out like Frankenstein’s lab ...it’s on 3 levels too !

User

I never tire of this place. It is iconic and always has a warm welcome from the staff. I love it's in a converted church which suits the Frankenstein theme to a tee. I also love that the old films are playing silently on screens in the background. And then there's the monster himself who rises from his slumber to greet all. He's worth the wait. Go, enjoy the whole thing and walk away with a smile on your face...

User

Frankenstein's is an institution!!! One of Edinburgh's best! Always guaranteed a great time whether it's daytime munchies or nightime nonsense! Karaoke is fab, staff are brilliant and the bar is super cool! Love it! Xxx

User

Happy with service, food and drinks. The show was spectacular. How ever a little bit pricy, therefore I give the place a four

User

Was there for a hen night. The doormen were cheerful and friendly unlike bar staff. We had pre ordered food and when it arrived it was cold. We were also served diet juice when didn't even ask for this as a mixer eventually said we could buy bottles if we wanted that. Also was overcharged for two meals. Glad we checked the bill.

User

Love the idea and decor, food was ok but a bit bland. The guy who served us was friendly and helpful.

User

I thought the atmosphere in the bar was cool, the style was really different. The cocktails were reasonable and tasted good. But, our table was full of glasses and wet and sticky when we arrived and nobody came to collect the glasses, so I cleared them myself. The Frankenstein show never happened. We waited with anticipation and asked a staff member and he just said it wasn't working.

User

Always end up having a good time in here, the door men are great as are the rest of the staff. I sadly lost my fitbit on Saturday while down the stairs, I called when i got home and was told I would receive a phone call Sunday afternoon to let me know if they found it or not. I didn't receive this call and when I called back i was told 'na sorry it wasn't found on clean up' and hung up on. A little rude I would say. Despite this we had a good night for my friends birthday!

User

nice pub but I lost my wallet on the counter and the servers made style nothing happened even not 5 minutes between the moment where I to pay my glass and the moment where I realized that I had lost him strangely...

User

We arrived at 12.50pm, 1 other customer in front of us. Food took 35mins to come out, cold chips which had more salt on than the sea. Asked for fresh ones, along came chips coated in salt! I called over member of staff who apologised. It became busy, well full, by this time and staff were telling customers there was no food orders being taken yet as they were so behind. Great to hear.

We waited for childrens ice cream....waited for children's ice cream (Yes I wrote it twice) which finally came as we were standing to go. Asked for the bill which had 10% off. Not happy with any aspect apart from apologetic waitress.

User

Undervalued as a customer but overpriced drinks does not match up in my opinion!!! The Frankenstein gimmick won't bring me back xoxo

User

Lunch ,,no the best ,,,,chips cold rest of it pretty basic , cant recommended it for its food

User

I was just wondering about the two female staff working upstairs last night behind the bar. Did they get a degree in being pig ignorant or were they just rared that way? We had no issue with any other staff members throughout the night in the downstairs and upstairs bars. At the beginning of the night they sauntered around behind the bar and walked passed me a few times until deciding 20 minutes later to serve me. My friend ordered a drink and two drinks were placed in front of her and then she decided not to serve her. I can understand if a customer is hammered drunk and does not need anymore but when you are causing no issue and they decide not to serve us. It put a dampener on the end of an excellent weekend in Edinburgh. I could suggest a social skills course for the two female staff? Or plain and simple for them to have a bit of manners towards paying customers.

User

The bouncers in this place are absolute bellends. Threatened to kick me out twice - once for dancing on the tables (like dozens of other folk), and once for hitting the light shade (which i didnt, check cctv if need be, 1030pm approx 10/3/18). Nothing like intimidating paying customers. Jobsworths. Avoid at all costs. "Check me, I've got a high vis captains armband, im hard as fuck"

P.S I'll post this every time you delete it.

Absolute cunts.

P.P.S. an apology wouldn't go amiss FYI.

User

Service is appalling, food took over an hour to arrive, when we got it, it was cold. Bar staff were rude, only a mumbled apology when the food took so long and a positive teenage strop when we mentioned that it was cold. We didn't pay for the food as it was inedible (looked like it would have been lovely if it had been hot), but payed for our drinks. At no point did we blame the bar staff for the problem with the food, but you would have thought we had insulted their family! A few lessons on customer care would not go amiss! I spent a lot of time in Frankenstein's when I worked in Edinburgh in the late 90's and was so keen to show my teenage daughter some of my sites of Edinburgh on our visit, this experience really put a downer on our day. My advice, get your selfie at the entrance and find somewhere else to eat!

User

Served a G&T with a soda gun that wasn’t gassed right. Refused any acknowledgement of a problem and charged for a replacement drink. The manager was useless and an embarrassment to the company. Hope I don’t have the pleasure of visiting again. Awful.

User

Myself and 6 friends enjoyed our time here last night at the pub quiz, lovely atmosphere and good cocktails, with a great quiz.

However, we were making our way out through the foyer area one do the bouncers, Asian with a beard, white shirt and stripy tie, asked us what we were doing standing there (where we had been for less than a minute).. when we told him we were just leaving he said we can't stand there and to move, we said okay and he aggressively told us to get out because again we couldn't stand there. He gave us some more aggressive cheek about moving which was uncalled for so my friend said there was no need to speak to us like that.

At this point, he told us again aggressively, to get out to which I said there was no need to treat us like he was as we had done nothing wrong, and to do his job properly, which apparetlntly warranted him telling us to fuck off and give us the middle finger as we walked out, even though no one swore at him once? As well as much more abuse as we walked down the street which I can't recall as I was in such shock at being treated like this for no reason. In what world is it acceptable for a "professional" to tell a group of girls who aren't even drunk and have done nothing wrong to fuck off and give a torrent of abuse?

We are still all so shocked at how we were treated, I have never been spoken to in my life the way this man did. So not only did it ruin a good night but we certainly will not be back. This man should not do this job if he can't treat people with respect.

User

I loved it at first, decor armospheric but unfortunately we had to leave on my son's 18th Birthday due to his Young Scot card not been accepted as a valid form of id. This is apparently company policy which is ridiculous considering it is a legal form of id and has his date of Birth on it. We went elsewhere and got drinks no problem. We won't be back and this establishment will lose business due to this.

User

Don't go, can't cope when busy and customer care is zero. Someone was sick all over me and not a bit of help was offered. Guy wasn't even chucked out. If they had been doing their job properly, he wouldn't have been served drink the state he was in. Had to go home totally ruined night. Sick in my hair, top, bag and jeans. Manager couldn't have cared less.
