Free Wheel North, Glasgow Green

Free Wheel North redresses the health deficit of Glasgow, through its impact on active travel. Its group cycles with youth groups and schools target deprived areas with low activity levels; the Cycling Centre on Glasgow Green, which opened in Summer 2011 emphasises Special Needs cycling. People with disability are systematically excluded from the opportunity to enjoy fresh air and exercise. Try to travel by wheel chair or mobility scooter through the city and barriers will soon thwart your progress.

Our hands-on cycling projects are a lever for better urban realm planning, which FWN further tries to influence through its relationship with Glasgow City Council and academic groups working on the relation between Health, Cycling and Street Design.

At our site on Glasgow Green we offer a wide variety of bikes for people of all ages and abilities from side by side bikes, tandems, hand cranks, child and adult balance bikes, go karts, a 4 seater family bike and even a 7 seater conference bike! We have a bike for everyone!

Our team are always on hand to assist visitors with choosing the right bike, and then ensuring they feel safe and comfortable riding it. People can use the bikes at our track on Glasgow Green or can join our weekly led rides, which are tailored to meet the needs of the group on the day. We have a great mechanic who maintains our bikes, and she can also service or repair any problem on any bike.
