About Friends Of The Rose Garden Linlithgow
The Rose Garden is a post-WWII designed community space in the heart of Linlithgow. Currently in desperate need of TLC. Let's not lose another town asset.

How lovely a setting they have chosen.
A very true sentiment shared by all of us. There is no need for an over developed Peace Garden when there already exists a peace garden with the Rose Garden.
More fantastic photos, why they would even consider felling such wonderful specimens.
With thanks to Lucy for sharing such lovely photos! It's perfect weather for taking a walk to the Rose Garden to see what's in bloom.
We'll be looking to arrange a spring clean of the Rose Garden in the next few weeks so keep checking the page for updates!
The Rose Garden has had a beautiful sugar-frost coating this week, the low winter sun playing shadows with the trees. We were going to arrange another clear-up afternoon but look, the roses have been pruned!
Why are the 'Peace Garden' persisting in their plan to destroy the Rose Garden? There have been overwhelming shows of oppostion to their scheme. There are other more suitable locations where a peace garden can be located. Yet they have said in the Gazette that they will not consider an alternative.
Hope you've all had a good 2019 so far. We hear the Peace Garden steering group are meeting on Tuesday 29th January so watch this space. (No, we have not been invited, we are not going along.) Happy gardening! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
An update as the year draws to a close. The fight to save the Rose Garden will continue into 2019. One location a few of us had thought of was the area currently behind the hoardings at the Cross. Now, wouldn't that be an ideal place for a new project? Looks as though some of the peace garden group are belligerent and not keen on listening to compromise but who knows what the new year will bring -
A thanks to all who turned up to help out tidying up the Rose Garden this morning despite the rain. Over thirty bags of leaves collected so far !!!
Weather looks chilly but dry for our clean-up day this Sunday. So wrap up warm, hope to see you there!
Just in case you'd like to spend a spooky Hallowe'en in the Rose Garden with some friendly bats!
H/T Lucy for the link.
Update: the Community Council offered to assist with a public consultation. The Peace Garden steering group have given them the job. This should hopefully mean complete neutrality as per the position the Community Council has taken over this. The steering group are meeting on November 6th so we will give another update once any information on a public consultation is released - https://www.linlithgowgazette.co.uk/…/f riends-welcome-rose-…
A reminder that the next Community Council meeting is this Tuesday. Interestingly, the Peace Garden group will have another meeting in November and seem to be taking up the offer from the Community Council to assist in going forward with a public consultation. We shall see what happens next and keep you all updated!
