Gala Squash And Racketball Club Description

The Galashiels Squash and Racketball Club is located in an unassuming building just off Abbotsford Terrace in Galashiels. The building houses two well maintained courts, one of which has an integral gas heater. Adjacent to the courts are male and female changing facilities equipped with showers and toilets.

On the upper level of the building is a recreation / social area. In this area we have kitchen facilities including tea and coffee making equipment, a fridge and an oven. We have ample comfortable seating and the whole area overlooks both courts with sliding windows providing unobstructed viewing of the courts.

We also have a table tennis table, with bats and balls, and a pool table.

Alex Doherty memorial shield Final:
Graham Bensted 3-0 Iain Gorman The Memorial Shield is a tournament for the first round losers in the Club Championship. Neither player had won a title at the club before, so both players were looking forward to the tie. Iain was up against it has he had never beaten Graham previous to this and this gave Graham the psychological advantage.... In contrast to the Championship Final this was a match of hard hitting and a war of attrition more than skill and speed. The Veteran Bensted, who has played Squash and Racketball for clubs up and down the country was just too good for Gorman. A good strong battle seen Bensted Triumph 15-7, 15-11, 15-10.

Club Championship 2018 Final
Tony Elliot 3v0 Kev Douglas The 2018 Club Championship Final was eagerly awaited between defending Champion Tony Elliot, and playing in his maiden tournament at the club Kev Douglas. Tony was the strong favourite having ben unbeaten at the club for over a year but Kev was hopeful for an upset. Kev started strongly and took off to 6-1 lead. This was due to tight shots and also Tony seemed sluggish. It was a short lived lead, as soon as Tony got t...he serve back he rattled off several points and was soon 9-6 up. The rest of the first game was fairly even and Tony sneaked it 16-14. The Second game swung on it's head, This time Tony took to a 5-1 lead before Kev brought it back to 5-5. Tony just seemed to be equal to anything Kev could throw at him and motored off to 15-6. The momentum was with Tony, and Kev was losing focus. Tony demonstrated his prowess in the third by running off 12 points on the trot before he found the tin with a bodged drop shot. Although Kev then had the hand, his concentration had gone and Tony took the title 15-3.
