I recently purchased a set of Anthony Gallo Strada 2 speakers with two TR-3D subwoofers and thought that, while I don't typically write reviews, I needed to throw my two cents up here.



While I was warned by my dealer (and reviewers) that extended break-in was required, when I plugged these speakers in for the first time my heart sank and I was quite fearful that I had just wasted a good pile of cash. I resolved myself to bear with it and see how things developed over time. The manual indicates that more than 100 hours of content needs to be played before the sound will really begin to settle.



After about ten days I emailed Gallo for some set-up suggestions to dial in the subs and Bill kindly sent me not only a description but some helpful photos to help me dial in the soundstage. His response was virtually immediate even outside of business hours. Talk about SERVICE!



Fast forward three weeks: The delicacy, the speed, the detail is just exceptional. The timbre and musicality is also really impressive. The speakers themselves just disappear into the music in the room. It's a stunning set-up despite (because of?) their unconventional looks. One thing that really surprised me is dynamics: For such small drivers, one may rightfully anticipate the delicacy and speed noted above would come at the sacrifice of realistic concert-level dynamics. With solid supporting electronics (and cables), these little guys sound utterly convincing and realisitic as the sound pressure levels increase. There are no signs of stress, no compression or loss of detail - just a room full of detailed, organic music.



Love 'em!



Tips:



* Power - didn't get what I wanted out of an inexpensive 70W/channel unit. Upgraded to higher quality 180W/channel integrated.



* Angle the subs towards the listening position (thanks Bill!) - makes a HUGE improvement in soundstage and sub integration



* Upgraded power cables on the subs made a substantial sonic improvement - tighter, faster, deeper bass.

I didn't think this level of performance was available at this price point.... Wow, I'm a grateful man.

I bought the Cl-3's refurbished from Gallo and they have been amazing.

I bought an old Gallo sub and three micro speakers for 75 bucks. The mps 150 sub kicks ass. I think it's 15 years old. Amazing value!

Finally got a receiver that do my Micros justice. They really suck up the wattage, and give great sound :)
