Great way of spending an afternoon in the Kirkcudbright area. Grandchildren loved it, especially the peacocks that wander about so close to visitors.

The animals seem to be happy, all in all one feels, that the owners put all their money in the animals and less money in their facilities. I think, that they just need more visitors, who are more interested in animals than in activity and action. I don`t mind, when the wood of the ticket shed is a little bit over its time, when I see, that many of the animals have babies. That is usually not the case, if animals are treated badly.

I think this is the only three-star review I've done since I become a Local Guide. Now I'm no expert but this zoo was poor - a moderately long unsurfaced track with lots of potholes being the only access - and not suitable for HGVs or road bikes. 30% of the enclosures were empty, and that same percentage not being able to be seen. All of the animals that could be seen were happy and being cared for, but I must say that half of the animals there were not in a social group. I could only see 2 meerkats, but they did have many holes and burrows so there were probably more below.
The quality of the enclosures were very poor - definitely not up to Chester Zoo's standards.
I only saw 2 members of staff throughout our whole visit. The 'Woodland Walk' was below standards as the signs were the wrong way, some of the path was overgrown and we didn't really benefit from it. No WiFi, which also disappointed me as I wanted to write this review up in the small cafe, which we didn't go to.
I do recommend going here, however. Some of it was enjoyable and exciting, some was not. Camera is advised though - I got some nice pictures!

I'm sorry to say this was a massive disappointment. Only two members of staff (that I seen) - no interaction with visitors at all (other than how much you have to pay) no map or leaflet on the provided - pretty much left to your own devices. Our young daughter liked seeing the animals (but then all kids do?!) But as adults, all we could see is a run down place in desperate need of fixing up.

This is a very polite rating. Wheelchair accessible only in good weather as chair will get stuck in mud. £16 to see a centre dedicating some animals to death as they are no longer with them for 3yrs and clearly not to be replaced. Animals overweight and digging to escape. Not impressed at all and cafe is of poor quality foods. Lots of empty enclosures for paying the sum of £16. Only saving grace is that wheelchair users went for free.

A rough diamond. A little worn down, but animals arw stunning and all looked very active and healthy. Amazing place to go with few people around.

Good selection of animals but needs maintanance ongoing for several years.

Friendly atmosphere and staff, lots of unusual animals to see in an intimate setting. Great fun spotting the animals, including all the babies!

Great seeing the animals close up. Pleasant & informative staff. Poor facilities. In desperate need of funding (more paying visitors!)
