Garron Point Community Ventures

About Garron Point Community Ventures

Where change is opportunity for a community, we will seek to be the driving force for that change. Garron Point Community Ventures was established in 2020 by Hugh Fraser, Scottish corporate lawyer and member of the GlobalScot network. Our vision statement is to promote, deliver and manage successful community-focussed economic development projects in Scotland. The business recognises the opportunities emerging from the 21st century reform focussed legislation in Scotland including the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, the Communities Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 and the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019. We take our name from Garron Point, a rocky outcrop on the north-east coast of Scotland, just north of Stonehaven, where the Highland Boundary Fault emerges into the North Sea. It is here 400 million years ago that the collision of the Laurentia and Baltica continents resulted on the formation of the Grampian Mountains, a mountain range with the same geological origins as the Appalachian Mountains in North America. The rocks have of course been shaped by ice age glaciers in much more recent history to leave behind the inspirational scenery in which our communities are based today. Garron Point Community Ventures aims to deliver on our vision by driving and support the planning, financing and execution of community ventures which add to the economic development and quality of life of people in Scotland.
