Garth Hotel & Restaurant Description
The Garth Hotel, standing on the north end of the village square, in the heart of Grantown-on-Spey, near Aviemore, the ancient Capital of Badenoch and Strathspey, was built in the 1850’s and began its life as an Inn. Over the years the hotel has prospered, becoming the Premier Independent Hotel in Grantown-on-Spey.

looking forward to personal autumn break at this wonderful hotel - staff approachable, friendly, fun, professional. Rooms, bedding and amenities wonderful - and the food in the restaurant is a special treat. I know I have to book in advance as the locals think so too. Our favourite Highland hotel for our retreat break every year!
Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Great welcome, lovely staff and fab food. Highly recommended 🖒 Bosies with Frodo were a bonus � And made some lovely new friends too �
This was one of our favourite places to eat in our travels around Scotland last fall. The staff are wonderful and their chef and kitchen staff are terrific. Be sure to try one of the local single malts if you are nearby!
Thank you for the most amazing day . Adrian and his team went above and beyond to make it as special as it was. Could not have wished for anything more and even the kids had their own special room to play and chill out in. Thanks again you made it just perfect. ( everyone complimented the amazing beautiful food)
Only a short walk from where we were staying. Food was superb, in fact we couldn’t resist desert as well.
Myself and my husband have been twice now, once for lunch and once for an evening meal. Both times were brilliant. Friendly staff, excellent food and lovely surroundings and all at an affordable price. Would definitely recommend Garth Hotel & Restaurant xXx
My wife and I celebrated our 35th wedding Anniversary today and we spent the weekend at the Garth. The staff were fantastic as nothing was any trouble to accommodate our family and friends who were there to surprise my wife. She thought we were having a romantic weekend away. The food was really good. Cheers Billy.
Lovely and comfortable traditional Scottish hotel. Food excellent. Very good location for anyone wishing to visit historic sites or the whisky trail.
Have stayed a few times over the last few years. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and professional. The restaurant serves beautiful locally sourced food. Highly recommend this hotel.
Had an evening meal here with family as it was my wife's 50th birthday. Thank you for setting the table to my request. Food was excellent, location great and the staff outstanding. Thank you so much for a perfect evening. Denise, Michael and the chef's made for us what was to be a very memorable night. Thank you.
Booked in here last minute with my family after we got let down with a scam booking elsewhere, it was well worth it on our budget it was much better than where we were supposed to stay and breakfast included was luxury! Very friendly welcome, the room had everything and more. The waitress serving breakfast was super friendly and fun with the kids, made us feel very relaxed and food was delicious �

Been away for girlie weekend. Stopped here for some lunch and pit stop on way home. Amazing food very tasty and fresh we had 2 course and 3 course option. Friendly staff quick service. Would recommend and return.
Absolutely fabulous... was too late tonight for the local cafe. I had an elderly gentleman with me who'd been in an accident... asked if there was any chance of a pot of tea... out came said tea along with some amazingly mouthwatering home made shortbread and a smiling friendly face from the young girl behind the bar... and best of all without hesitation when I went to pay they refused to let me... thank you it's so nice to know there are still caring people out there. It made not just my day, but an old man's day just sitting being normal getting over a nasty shock :)
15 of us just descended on the Garth for an evening meal staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating. Good food. Reasonably priced. What more can you ask for.
Great location and perfect for our motorbike tour of Scotland (14 days in total).
Comfortable spacious room and OK food in the evening. Breakfast was lovely and swift.
Shame that there is no lift, no room internet connection, and a thoroughly miserable and rude receptionist that spolit the experience from check in ���
Friendly and welcoming staff, but lunch time menu a little limited. Nice area to sit outside.
Decided to come here yesterday on a friend's recommendation and we were really glad we did.The staff are friendly and professional,the food delicious and hearty at a very reasonable £10 something for 2 course and £13 something for 3 course...excellent value.We've raved about it so we'll be back.
Booked in to the restaurant here for dinner.They only had the 8.15pm slot left so we took that but was told not to be late by a very stern receptionist.
We arrived 15 minutes early so as not to be late and was told they were not quite ready for us.
A good selection of food on offer but our meal was truly spoilt by the sheer rush of the staff to serve us. Our starters arrived promptly and before my husband had finished his food the waitress stood over him asking if he had finished ! They took the starter plates away and we were served our main within half a minute.
The whole meal felt like we were in the way as they were setting the other tables up for breakfast and the chefs needed their shift over with. They started to clear our table while I was still eating my dinner.
The food was good but the service was very poor so we won't return which is a shame because we visit this town regularly .
This isn't a cheap place to eat and a meal out should be a relaxing and comfortable experience. We were rushed so much by the staff here that it felt like a fast food place not a hotel ..

I've never had a bad experience here until they started having pasta on the menu haha yes that's all you get by the way ... Boiled pasta in a bowl with a few chilli's on the top! Not putting anyone off this restaurant im just putting a warning out to not order this as it is not something I would expect to pay for in a restaurant!
