We've just been in to your Stockbridge shop to get some cheese for Christmas. Lovely shop with friendly staff handing out lots to try. Can't wait to eat all the cheese we bought. Will definitely be back!

We're in yday (Sunday) and we're served by the most charming young man. A real credit to your shop. We'll be back for more cheese and more chat

We had a wedding cake from George Mewes, and were due to pick it up the day before our wedding, to take up to St Andrews. Unfortunately there had been an delay with the deliveries that day, which initially made me panic a bit, but the way the way the issue was dealt with was amazing. The delivery came in later that day, and the staff arranged to have it driven up to our wedding venue, a good 2 hours away, despite the issue being completely not their fault. Could not recommend any more, absolutely above and beyond.

Outstanding selection of the best cheese in the uk and some of the best in the world amazing shop and staff are outstanding very passionate in there field of work hand in heart I have never had cheese this good before.....proper cheese shop !!!!!

Only one possible rating for this shop and that is 'excellent'. The best cheeses that are made are all under one roof. Spoilt for choice? Knowledgeable staff, and you can try before you buy.

One of the best shops I've been in, very professional staff who have great knowledge of the produce they are selling. Oh and they stock Arran Oatcakes which are the best.

Not just fabulous cheese however now also filled rolls. Delicious!!! � A lunchtime must! �

My wife is lactose intolerant. She takes lactase pills just so she can still buy cheese from here!

Mewes is great, they are always happy to dish out free samples and make sure you only buy something you really love. It's not at all unusual to try 4 or 5 cheeses before making a selection and I like that I never feel pressured about that. The advice of the staff has also always been spot on! I tend to buy my basic cheddar at the supermarket, and get my blue cheese or Parmesan from Mewes. It's absolutely worth the price, and they have a great selection of crackers, dried meats and honey too. I always take visitors from out of town here, and they are always glad they went. A real boon for Byres Road!

Just home from my first visit to George Mewes Cheese. An amazing shop...really friendly staff. Tried lots of cheese and got a nice selection for my Christmas day cheeseboard and had a wee glass of mulled wine as well. Highly recommended.

Fabulous knowledgable staff at the Byres Rd branch who aim to make sure you get exactly what you want/need even when you are not sure what that is - got a celebration cake of cheese for a birthday party - a great alternative to a traditional birthday cake for a cheese lover - could not have been more more delighted with the whole George Mewes experience - oh and the recipient was absolutely delighted with his cake of cheese :)

Everyone was stunned at the gorgeous cake of cheese that the guys at George Mewes helped us pick and arrange for our wedding yesterday and how amazing they all tasted. We thought we had loads but people couldn't stop themselves going back for more of the delicious cheeses when they were served at the buffet. Great shop. Immensely knowledgable staff (they found a blue cheese I liked after 39 years...). Friendly and personal service - who could ask for more

Always welcome, always friendly they make you feel like a guest in their home and the quality of the cheeses I'd exceptional plus I always find something delicious that was not on my list... those candied oranges are soooo good. Will be back again and again, so glad to have found you.
