George Street Fish Restaurant & Chip Shop

We visited for a late lunch and had the fish-and-chip tea. Excellent food, good service and all-in-all great value with no complaints.

Food good shame the service is not better. Manager engages with customer by invading other customers space. Not good for such a small place

We were in earlier today and we waited in the queue for 10 mins to order. We asked if they accepted cards and they said that they did not. Fair enough. There was an RBS right across the road so my wife asked to order and that she would leave our little girl at the counter and she would come back to pay in a minute. The server refused to take the order and said we would have to wait again. Unbelievably poor service. It was as if we were going to order and then run away (leaving our 8 year old). Needless to say we went elsewhere and won't be back.

Grab the to-go and sit by the water. Excellent. Next time the two of us will split a meal - lots of fish!

We ordered haddock and chips. Local produce at its best. The batter was the best we have ever eaten - light, crispy and delicious. Very good service in a contemporary setting.

Really good food. Friendly and prompt staff. Small space and fills quickly if you want a seat. Well worth it.

Really excellent fish and chips, serving different types of fish in various ways. Fries are also really good. You can either eat in or take away. If you eat in I recommend sitting upstairs next to the window to watch people go by outside.

Not satisfied at all chips were small portion and very dry ordered a latte and it came out wrong and tasting burnt and the scampie was very greasy will not be back and certainly not recommend to any one ever

i could not finish a large haddock dinner, and i generally am able to eat most full meals.

This place has the best fish & chips I have tasted in a country that is considered to be the pinnacle of fish & chips anywhere.

The takeaway part of this place is most recommended. Have yourself a fish supper outdoors overlooking the beautiful Oban bay.

The batter is light, crispy and succulent. Outstanding.

Even their take on the traditional haggis, battered and deep fried is a notch above others I have tried.

I had the grilled salmon, I feel it was exceptional value for money. The quality of the food is way over the price. Recommend to anyone to come here.
