We are also delighted to welcome back GCU graduate, Ronnie Charters, Sports Journalist at Radio Clyde who will be hosting the event.
We are really keen to stay connected with our graduates and to find out more about your journey since leaving GCU and also to discuss how we can continue to... support you. This is also a great opportunity to hear some of the latest news from GCU and network with GCU alumni as business contacts.
Ronnie Charters is a multimedia sports journalist with Radio Clyde and Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Scotland’s leading commercial radio station and football phone-in show. Ronnie was already working with STV and the Press Association before he graduated from GCU in 2017, and he’s since gone on to report live from some of the biggest games and stories in Scottish football, including Champions League matches in Paris and St Petersburg and the appointment of Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
Joanne Spence, Director at Beattie Communications has a track record of over 17 years’ experience in PR, Joanne heads up Beattie’s operation in Scotland. A leading integrated communications agency, Beattie has the biggest office footprint of any PR, advertising, digital or integrated communications agency in the UK. In her ten years at Beattie she has developed award-winning communication strategies for some of the biggest brands in the UK including Tesco, Specsavers and CALA Homes.
Craig Macfarlane is the Finance Director for City Facilities Management Ltd, part of the City Facilities Management Holdings Group whose global headquarters are based in Glasgow. His career has covered a variety of business sectors, but has always concentrated on Finance and Business Development. The journey started in September 1997 with a traineeship at KPMG to joining the City Group in October 2008, with Polaroid, The Edrington Group and Reg Vardy plc / Peter Vardy Ltd in between.
Umer Ashraf Malik is the Founder and Owner of iCafe, a multi-award winning coffee house and internet café chain based in Glasgow. In 2005, Umer opened his first iCafé on Great Western Road and now has a further four iCafé’s based in and around Glasgow. Umer has received a number of accolades including Entrepreneur of the Year, and Young Male of the Year to name a few. In 2012, Umer also appeared on the BBC television show Dragon’s Den to pitch for investment and secured a funding promise from Duncan Bannatyne.
