tevie Sole Middleton started collecting records at the age of fifteen after growing up in a household soundtracked by the Beatles, Dylan, classic soul (Mum) and classical music with a smattering of opera (Dad). At eighteen he purchased his first set of turntables and that marked the beginning of his Dj career now spanning more than twenty years which has seem him circle the globe a number of times playing in many of the world’s finest clubs. This includes the Sub Club in Glasgow, Ministry of Sound in London, Mad Club in Switzerland, Loop in Tokyo, Material in Chicago, Propaganda in Moscow, Parque Extremo in Ecuador and the Playground Weekender festival in Sydney. Stevie has played the closing set at the Bacardi B Bar at T In the Park on three consecutive years and continues to be an in demand DJ in his native Glasgow with one of his residencies reaching the 15 year mark in 2015.

Stevie had an acute desire right from the beginning of his career make the style of music he was playing as a DJ. Early on he purchased some basic equipment (SP1200 and MPC2000 drum machines) and started making beats. This blossomed into a fully equipped studio and a burgeoning production talent (Once included in the top 15 producer’s to watch in Muzik magazine). With more than 200 productions to date he has recorded on his own as Oscuro p and Steviesole, as Cutting headz and Tu Souls with Phil Asher, Phuture Retro with Julian Bendall (Bah Samba) and an album project as Guiro with Ross Campbell. He has worked with DJ Spinna, Angela Johnson and Steve Edwards amongst other collaborators. He has collaborated with Milton Jackson as Baracus as well as a more recently successful but top secret project. Around 7 years ago Stevie created the HiRO moniker. HiRO has recorded a number of Eps for Tronicsole as well as remixing Milton Jackson, Art of Tones, Liquid People, Sei A, Ski Oakenfull and Palm Skin Productions to name but a few. With every release both on Tronicsole and many other fine labels, he cements his initial kudos as one to watch for 2009 according to IDJ magazine, his BoogieTech edits garnering a cult following especially the Romanthony Let Me Show U update.

Stevie began the Solemusic record label in 1996 which continues putting out records to this day. Starting out as a vinyl only imprint licensing obscure New Jersey garages tracks it blossomed into a full blown album-releasing operation with offshoots such as Tronicsole reaching cult status. The label can boast the debut productions from the likes of Milton Jackson, Dominic Martin, Illyus and has released music from Paul Seiji Dolby, Bugz in the Attic, Kaidi Tatham and Stevie himself.

In 2012 Stevie established the Glasgow DJ Academy working with Glasgow Music Studios to create an environment for anyone to learn how to DJ and grasp the fundamentals of producing electronic music. The academy goes from strength to strength and plans are currently being made to create a state of the art teaching studio within the Glasgow Music Studios complex.
