About Glasgow East End Community Carers

Glasgow East End Community Carers was set up in 1991 to provide advice, support and information to carers.

Glasgow East End Community Carers Description

We provide services to unpaid family carers - people who give help and support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, disability or addiction.

In Glasgow East from a population of 125, 194 there are 13, 598 carers. Caring for someone can have a huge impact on peoples' lives.

Around 50% of carers juggle caring with work while the remaining 50% do not work, and in many instances have had to give up work in order to care. Carers are very likely to become socially isolated and their own health is more likely to suffer as a result of caring for others.

Glasgow East End Community Carers was set up in 1991 to provide advice, support and information to carers. The number of carers is set to rise and three in five adults will become a carer at some point in their lives.
