Glasgow Play-Resource Association (GPA) is a charitable organisation founded in 1983 which supports voluntary groups working with children, adults and young people. We provide advice, training and information and operate the largest scrap store in Scotland dedicated to play, arts and crafts materials, alongside a comprehensive arts and crafts shop. The organisation is now looking to expand further by developing new services. In the future we hope to offer:

An employability training programme, offering volunteer opportunities that will increase employability skills

An online shop where arts and craft material could be bought.

An environmental art and play project from materials that we have rescued from landfill.

'The Big Play Sessions'; play sessions using large recycled resources.

Creative Arts Projects; e. g. recycled fashion, recycled jewellery, kite making, trashy textiles, scrap sculpture etc. The projects are all designed to raise awareness of environmental issues, whilst encouraging creativity and developing social skills.

Loan Packs; recycled resources to use for a period of time. The loans can be short-term days to weeks or months

Training Workshops; training to community organisations staff and volunteers to learn more about scrap play, recycling, play theory, health and safety, risk assessment and environmental awareness.

Training in a Box; These boxes contain all the necessary recycled materials and workshop guidelines for organisations to buy and set up their own play /arts sessions.

Replay; An art, craft and scrap store provision for people working with children on recycling play and art projects to access a range of cheap materials.


We have appointed consultants, Regeneration Solutions (UK) Ltd, to discuss these ideas with current service users, potential new service users, community organisations and statutory organisations.
