About Glasgow University Fintech Society

The FinTech Society is for University of Glasgow students of any degree discipline who are interested in the application of technological innovations not only in the financial sector but also well beyond finance. The FinTech society has been created in response to rapid developments in IT that are expected to significantly disrupt many sectors, including the financial services sector that has been working in a traditional way for hundreds of years. The society aims to develop knowledge of FinTech-related topics (including, but not limited to, blockchain, digital currencies and financial inclusion) among students and to keep students up-to-date with the most current industry trends. Furthermore, the society gives its members opportunities to develop useful employability skills, such as communication & presentation skills, research & analytical skills, the ability to work in a team effectively and solve problems that might seem complex at first sight. These aims are achieved by students' cross-faculty collaboration and by engagement with industry professionals who bring real-world perspectives and experience into the FinTech topics.
