Glasgow Water Vole Project

About Glasgow Water Vole Project

The Glasgow Water Vole Project is a partnership between the University of Glasgow, Seven Lochs Project, PTES, SNH and Glasgow City Council.

Glasgow Water Vole Project Description

Glasgow, in particular, the east end of the city, is home to a unique population of water voles. As well as the traditional type which lives in wetland areas (e. g Hogganfield Park) there is another type found here which lives in grasslands, sometimes miles away from water. This grassland water vole is very unusual and rarely recorded anywhere else in the UK. The Glasgow Water Vole Project aims to raise awareness about these special animals at a community and city-wide level and to value the uniqueness of the city's urban biodiversity.
