Very friendly welcome from the wardens to this site who were also very helpful with local information regarding walks. Toilet facilities excellent and spotless. The pitches were reasonably level and some of the largest I have seen. Excellent location for walkers with the Galloway forest, combining mountain walks and forest trails. Short walk to the Southern Upland Way route which passes through some great woodland scenery and provides a good eight mile loop right from the site. I get the feeling it may be a midge hell in the season judging by the amount of midge related products in the shop but that is Scotland.

Lovely site. Fantastic toilets/showers all very clean neat and tidy, very pleasant owners and a beautiful place. Looking up at night was breathtaking!

Nice spot to pitch a tent. Lots of space. They do limit the amount of tents. Nice when you have a spot, not so nice when you still look for space to pitch your tent. Got some good advice for hikes in the area, unfortunately the weather was not really playing along.

One of the top five campsites I've ever been to. I love the addition of playing radio 2 in the shower block. I can't think of any improvements and the local scenery is stunning. A ride around loch tool is a must. Would definitely visit again.

Perfect campsite for those who love getting away from crowds and getting back to nature. Superb facilities and super friendly service. Beautifully looked after by the owners who take massive pride in what they have created. Toilets and showers are spotless. Motor home facilities include everything you would expect.

Situated in one of Scotland best kept secret parks, The Galloway Forest with spectacular walks and cycling.

Close to a Pub with good food.

Amazing place loved every minute

It has a very relaxed atmosphere, WiFi so you can use a tablet or WiFi enabled telescope to map the night sky, which is beautiful due to the dark sky park it is located in.

We stayed here last year and the year before and what a delightful campsite it is. It’s a lovely quiet site, really peaceful and tranquil. Very spacious pitches for caravans and motor homes and a nice grassy area near the lily pond for tents. Excellent facilities, recently refurbished and spotlessly clean. There’s also a nice little dog walk around the lily pond. The birdsong is lovely in the mornings and there are many species to be spotted around the site. There are also some delightful little Shetland ponies. The stars are magnificent to observe when walking back from the toilet block in the middle of the night!
We have a caravan and there was no problem finding the site and access is easy. Brilliant base for exploring the surrounding countryside and especially the Galloway Forest Park with its many trails for walking and cycling and of course the lovely Glentrool Loch within the park. There is a very nice pub just down the road which serves great food. Jen and Fran are the new enthusiastic owners and are very friendly and extremely helpful. Highly recommended and we will certainly be back!
