Given the Government advice regarding Covid-19, and for the health and wellbeing of all our employees, consultants, clients and visitors, it is with regret that we have decided to close our office until further notice. We will continue to offer our support and services as usual; all phone calls are being redirected to our mobiles and we have full access to our emails. Our out-of-hours service will not be affected in any way.
We remain up-to-date with the Government’s guidelines surrounding Covid-19 and aim to reopen the office as soon as is feasibly possible. We’d like to thank you for your understanding and support during these difficult times and we hope that you all stay safe and healthy.

IMPORTANT IR35 UPDATE:
In light of the recent outbreak of #covid19, the UK Government revealed yesterday that they will delay the roll out of #IR35 rules until April 2021. Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Stephen Barclay MP, announced to the Commons that, ‘This is a deferral in response to the ongoing spread of Covid-19 to help businesses and individuals.’
The postponement of IR35 will be a welcome relief to many considering the current global situation. GoreVega will continu...e to monitor how these new rules will impact the way we work with you in the future to facilitate a smooth transition and ensure compliance with the new rules in 2021.

The much anticipated UK Spring Budget 2020 took place yesterday. But to the disappointment of those expecting clarifications on how the IR35 changes might affect them, the Chancellor did not mention it in his speech. Its only mention was in a brief paragraph in the published report. Therefore, we can assume that the changes will be implemented as planned on 6th April 2020. The final details are due to be published in the Finance Bill on the 19th March 2020, which will provide... a clearer understanding on how the legislation will operate.
GoreVega has been doing extensive research to understand how these new rules will impact how we work with you in the future. With the information available to us at this current time, we are already regulated and fully compliant with the tax laws, whilst also taking into account the operational needs of the business. The new rules will significantly change the way end clients manage their contractor population going forward. The consequences of failing to comply with the IR35 legislation could be significant for many end clients, especially here in the North Sea & UKCS.
The Government is encouraging end clients to use the Government’s Check Employment Status Tool (CEST) to assess whether or not you fall within IR35. It has recently been enhanced in readiness for the 6th April so it is more reliable and user friendly. If it is determined that the services you provide via your PSC and agency fall within the scope of IR35, then the person paying your PSC will be required to make deductions for ‘Pay As You Earn’ (PAYE) income tax and national insurance from the 6th April 2020. It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Edwin Delaney. Ed passed away at home last week. He had been a valued member of our team since 2007, following 20 year previous career in well services working with the main service companies. He will be greatly missed.
Edwin’s funeral Service will be on Thursday 10th October at 9:45am at St Agatha’s Roman Catholic Church, located at 160 Methil Brae, Methil, Leven, KY8 3LU.
Please keep Ed’s family in your thoughts... as they go through this difficult time.

Mark Young will be cycling from the most southerly point of England, Land’s End, all the way to John O’ Groats in September to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support in memory of his mother. The cycle is almost 1000 miles and will be attempted over 9 days - that’s a gruelling 6-7 hours of cycling a day!
We are proud to be sponsoring Mark on his mammoth cycle across the UK for such a wonderful and worthwhile cause, and we wish Mark a safe and successful journey.
