Greenock to host McCulloch Cup final.
Once again, we have been granted the honour and privilege of hosting the final of the McCulloch Cup - West League Cup in old money.
This year sees current table toppers Uddingston play local rivals and current League champions Ferguslie in what should be a good game of cricket. It all happens this coming Wednesday evening July 31st with a 6.15 start.
... Everyone at Glenpark wishes all the very best to both teams

Game off at Titwood, still on at Glenpark.
The 1st XI game against Clydesdale in Glasgow has fallen foul of the weather as expected.
Meanwhile, here in Paradise (Glenpark and not that ramshackle DIY Portakabin in the east end of Glasgow) the game is still on against local rivals Inverclyde.
... Forecast is not great but we march on.

A big thanks to Linda McDowell and her gang of both live and stuffed assistants for a great Defibrillator training session which she ran at the Club last night.
Great job Linda.

Shocking news from Glenpark.
Following on from the trauma suffered by one and all before, during and especially after the recent home game against West, the Committee has arranged for a presentation and some practical training in the use of the Club defibrillator provided by paralytic, er I mean Paramedic Linda McDowell in the clubhouse on Wednesday 24th July at 19.45hrs.
All Members are welcome to attend.
... Please assist us in getting an idea of the number of Members who wish to attend to ensure we have enough medics available for the training by sending a confirmation e-mail to the following address:
whatson@greenockcricketclub.com
Many thanks to Linda for assisting us in this important exercise.

Is there a doctor in the house?
3 on the bounce for the boys as we win thriller under the sun.
Greenock triumphed by 1 wicket off the penultimate ball against high flying West in a truly great game of cricket yesterday. Star of the show according to the score book was pro Saurabh with a wonderful 104no but that doesn't tell the whole story. At 88-6 we were toast but the lower order played their part to help our main man get us over the line. A fantastic all round team effort....
Glenpark duly made it the daily double as they triumphed by 90 runs at far flung Gatehouse of Fleet. Our satellite went down so we have no further details at this time but we will post them when the boys get back on Tuesday.
Why can't we either lose comfortably or indeed win comfortably? We're really far too old for this crap. Well done to Linda McDougall for raising the funds for the Club Defibrillator.

I don't beeeelieve it.
After being right royally dispatched by 10 wickets in the first fixture, Glenpark duly humped the Bees by the same margin today. Who said it wasn't a funny old game?
Jamie with 43no and Peter 'I've just scored the exactly half my age' Hempsey with 52no saw the boys home in style.
... It really is enough to drive a man to drink.
Marvellous, truly marvellous.

Greenock now 8th top after crucial league win.
The boys did everyone proud today when they comprehensively defeated Coatbridge rivals Drumpellier by 90 runs at Glenpark.
Batting first, the locals amassed 232-5 with Saurabh making a fine 93 and newcomer Jack Griffiths chipping in with a crucial 61no.
... Drumps never really got going in reply and constantly lost wickets in the run chase. Neil with 4-24 was the standout bowler but it really was a complete team performance.
Well done to all the guys.

I believe the photo says it all.
The 1st XI are at home on Saturday to Drumpellier, buoyed by last week's emphatic win over East Kilbride. This match is another absolutely crucial encounter for Greenock as a win will take them out of the relegation area, ahead of Drumpellier. There is a feeling that momentum is with Greenock and it is fair to say that they have been competitive in just about every league game that they have played this year, despite their results. They will n...eed to maintain that level of performance but if they do, then they should claim a vital victory and erase the memory of that awful batting collapse at Langloan at the start of the season. The match starts at 12 noon.
The Glenpark XI are away to the Bees (Clydesdale's 4th team) on Saturday. Their youthful opponents handed out a 10 wicket defeat to Glenpark when they met earlier in the season and will undoubtedly prove a stern test again this Saturday. The match starts at 1pm.

Peg Leg Greg leads Hillend today against West.......weather permitting.
Hillend host repeat offenders West Development XI today in a friendly at Glenpark. It's been at least a fortnight since we last played our Hamilton Crescent chums on a Sunday so it will fantastic to reacquaint ourselves, chew the fat and catch up with what has been happening after such a long time.
Er, enough bollocks for now.

Double delight for Greenock.
Congratulations go out from everyone to both Greenock and Glenpark who won yesterday in between the thunder, lightning and rain.
The 1st XI defeated East Kilbride by 8 wickets whilst the 2nd's defeated Glasgow South by 6 wickets on the D/L.
... More details to follow.

OK folks, only one of the following two statements is true.
a) Shergar has been found living with Lord Lucan & Adolf Hitler on the moon.
b) Greenock have just broken their league duck today at East Kilbride.
... The answer is 'b' which is fantastic. Well done guys.

Fixture update update update.
Where to begin? OK, let's go. Marress eventually decided that they would not travel. Whilst disappointing, they were good enough to do so quickly to try and give us some time to find alternative opponents to make sure that Glenpark was not a Saturday dead zone. Thanks go to them on that front.
Meanwhile, watching on this saga quietly from the sidelines were fellow Ayrshire compatriots Kilmarnock who were also free today and they stepped in at the... last moment to ensure we both had a game on a lovely sunny Saturday.
So, it's Glenpark vs Kirkstyle. Marvellous and many thanks to Killie C.C.

Fixture update update.
Tomorrow's friendly between Glenpark and Marress at home has not been cancelled.....or perhaps it has, depends upon who you talk to and precisely what time of which particular day it happens to be. King Kenny would be proud of this maybes aye, maybes naw situation.
In the meantime folks, I'm f*****g off back to America. Just returned to Glasgow Airport a mere 4 hours ago and already it's started. I wasn't going to have a drink until 5pm but I've changed... my mind.
So, if you come to Glenpark tomorrow afternoon and there is cricket of a sort on, then you'll know that Marress did travel. If there is no cricket of any sort on, then you'll know that they didn't. Let me know by postcard at the following address:
