Gretna Green is close to the beautiful Solway estuary, a place which has international importance as a rich habitat for migrating birds, particularly in the winter months when the Barnacle Geese and Whooper swans have returned from their breeding grounds in the Arctic. Explore the Solway coastline on a winter wild goose chase which visits various bird watching sites on and close to the estuary. Warm clothes, walking boots, and binoculars recommended. Lunch included as well as a Real Ale stop! Includes dinner and full Scottish breakfast at your hotel for your duration. 10% OFF voucher to use within our Famous Blacksmiths Visitor Attraction and Shopping complex. http://bitly.com/2Mvff5d

Wow... Where to start. We had our wedding here on the 5th of May in the water gardens and from start to finish, absolutely everything was perfect! The staff couldn't have been any more helpful and went above and beyond to ensure our day was perfect. We met our wedding planner Kelly who talked us through the day and made sure every little detail was thought about. All of our family members were also made to feel at ease and comfortable for their stay for the evening and having booked 9 extra rooms, without any problems with booking or check in. The wedding itself was also perfect.... Being a same sex marriage they even had a lady come down from the Smiths hotel to help just so we could individually walk into the gardens with music playing accompanied by each of our fathers. The gardens are simply beautiful.... Picture perfect. The evening again went as planned. Kelly announced us into our reception room (solway room) and announced each person to make a speech. We then all enjoyed a beautiful sit down meal.... The food was amazing! All the guest agreed and couldn't have asked for more. The room we stayed in was very spacious for a bride to get ready for the big day... Slept great and came down to a buffet breakfast with a massive selection of items to choose from. All of our guests also had a lovely stay and all told us how lovely and perfect the day had been and how friendly and nice the hotel was. All in all we couldn't have asked for more.... We can't fault any of it. We would like to thank Greens at Gretna Hotel and Kelly for the most memorable and beautiful wedding. And we can't wait to return next year for our 1st anniversary xx

Stayed last week in a family room it was lovely loads of space. Food was good too and room service was a bonus! Will defiantly be staying again!

User

Stayed and dined here after winning a Facebook competition. We also decided to get married at the water gardens whilst staying here. All the staff we met was fantastic and made us feel welcome. The food was delicious. The room was luxurious, clean and spacious.

User

Spent 4 nights with a friend in early June. Cannot recommend highly enough. The staff superb. Extremely helpful. A mention for the chef . My friend

Is diabetic and has allergy to dairy, difficult combo, yet chef provided an alternative to one of the mains just for her. If you get a chance please go on

The Secret Solway Tour run by Solway Solutions. Will be going back, soon I hope. A little jewel in the borders

Our Son and Daughter-in law held their meal here to celebrate their wedding, the food was very good and served to our party by really friendly and helpful staff.

We all had a most enjoyable evening.

User

I can't remember the ladies name but she had a big bun in the top of her head dark hair she was amazing with us all especially to our little girl she cudnt do enough for us all made the day so perfect. The room where we had our food was so beautiful and just amazing. The staff at the true salon were lovely they made us look gorgeous and had were lovely. Your staff are an asset to your hotel thank you.

User

Just returned from a valentine's night at Greens of Gretna staying in a four poster room. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel, the staff are friendly, meals very good and the room was great. The only thing that I can't understand is why it only has a 3 star rating.

Well certainly be going back in a few months time to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

User

Just back from my wedding with family.

Lovely stay, great staff, good food.

My two dogs were very welcome

Salon was great for hair & make up.

Lovely gardens for photos.

Everything I asked for.

Big thank you to wedding planner Beth.

And all the staff.

User

I don't know where to start, from the moment we arrived on Wednesday everything was absolutely perfect, we married in the water gardens yesterday with the beautiful weather, the staff at the hotel are amazing and could not have done more for us, a huge thank you to Beth our wedding coordinator for her fantastic efforts, the driver was absolutely lovely as was Dave the photographer, the whole day was perfect and we remember our special day forever, from the bottom of our hearts thank you

User

Got married here July 2017 and it was a lovely day. My husband surprised me July 2018 and brought me back for our 1st anniversary xx

User

A (loud) Big Band were playing in the lobby when we arrived, making checking in difficult but the very helpful staff worked hard to solve the issue and took us to a quieter area.

From then on , everything was fantastic. A beautiful room, great food, good service and a lovely ambience with light, airy decor . We had champagne and red carpet to greet us after the wedding and a secluded corner table in the restaurant.

User

Stayed in a balcony room which was spacious and nice but the spa bath was broken and spat black bits into the water. Overall though had a nice time. Main reception and bar area is gorgeous though was disappointed in the drinks- French martini hadn't been mixed properly and tasted weak so got a raspberry gin but was served it in a short glass with no ice or garnish. For 5 pound odd I expected a bit more. Have to say food in the restaurant was first class.

User

Stayed here a few times. Never disappointed. Staff friendly rooms a great size Food not the best I’ve had but good. Great position for visiting the Lakes. If disabled this hotel ticks all the boxes. Will be back.

User

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights in room 210 (balcony room). The room was clean, spacious and the four poster bed was huge & very comfortable! Also had added bonus of lounge in the room with sofas & tv..The only criticism we have is the bathroom, the shower wasn't great had to get member of staff to look at it where they proceeded to shake it then wipe it to make it work better. Plus the jacuzzi bath left the water smelling foul when switched on...The hotel foyer is lovely with unusual modern decor & staff were very welcoming...The meal portions were very good but breakfast was bit dry & meals were just ok taste wise...Greens at Gretna is nice hotel with alot of potential just could do with a bit of updating in some areas hence not 5 stars.

User

Lovely hotel good breakfasts, nice bar. Only criticism would be the bathrooms in room could do with an upgrade!

User

Lovely Anniversary stay back at Green’s at Gretna. Water gardens coming on nicely since we were last here for our wedding 2 years ago! Staff lovely and welcoming as previously. Only downside was room 200 not as nice outlook as room we stayed in when we got married and bathroom definitely ready for an update and refurb. Otherwise would have got 5 stars

User

Visited last night for our tea and was very disappointed. The venue it’s self was beautiful but the food was poor and over priced. No one came to check that our food was ok either. The young girl that was serving us came across rude, maybe she was nervous and struggled to make conversation but that’s maybe something that management should be helping her with and training her on. Overall a poor experience and it’s doubtful I’d return or Recommend.

User

Was looking forward to treating my Dad to a lovely birthday lunch. But was quite disappointed. I was advised to book a table so expected it to be busy but it wasn't🤔 They had a carvery on so was looking forward to it. I feel that feedback is needed good or bad. The roast beef was really tough, the roast turkey was a bit better but not great. Roast potatoes were tasty but soft not crispy. The rest of the veg was lovely & the gravy thick n yummy too. The Yorkshire puddings were hard/tough, couldn't cut them! The last thing that was important to my Dad was the plates were cold so the food didn't stay hot, infact it went cold quite quickly☹️. I told the waiter - politely how we felt, he said sorry & would go & tell his supervisor, when he came back a short while later he said we'd get a discount as we weren't happy, we got 10% off which was ijni suppose.

Let's hope they improve because it was a nice place & even though there was problems with the food, it was tasty😊
