Grey Mare'S Tail Nature Reserve

Stunning. First part of the climb up the stone steps is the toughest. Keep going all the way to the loch!

Excellent walk. £3 parking charge but everything else is free. The walk up to the loch involves quite a significant ascent but has beautiful views of the waterfall and scenery along the way, and the loch is well worth the visit. Took about 2 hours in total for the walk there and back. Alternatively, there is a shorter walk if you just want to see the waterfall.

Absolutely stunning views, children managed to climb a little way to see the waterfall. We were lucky enough to see 3 aeroplanes (RAF tornados/hercules) flying low through the valley right above us. Awesome.

Great for a walk if your capable of climbing. You have too pay too park and despite the location (rural) this seems to be enforced there was a ranger there when we parked. Amazing views from the top which takes about 80 mins to get too!

Very steep walk to the top but a must see and do.

Beautiful waterfall, but getting close takes a very long and challenging hike.

The entire area is very scenic . The Grey Mare's Tail is a great climb with a well kept track. When you get to the top the track twists and turns , giving no indication of the beauty to come, it keeps it a secret to the very last minute, totally unexpected. love it here x

Short challenging walk up maintained routes, members of NT get free parking otherwise £3. Left route is short and lacks a good view due to errors omissions. RH route is steep and stamina challenging but worth the effort.

amazing quiet place. full of sheeps :). With 60 m waterfall-the highest in UK.
